๏ง The free checkup for pregnant women (Pradhan Mantri Surakshit
Matritva Abhiyan) has been launched by Modi government, aims to provide
assured, comprehensive and quality antenatal care, free of cost, universally
to all pregnant women on the 9th of every month at government hospitals/
Health Centre.
Scheme guarantees a minimum free package of antenatal care services to
women in their pregnancy at designated government health facilities.
๏ง Lab Investigations: Hemoglobin, Urine Albumin and Sugar, Malaria,
VDRL, HIV, Blood Grouping, Screening for GDM using OGTT etc.
5. ๏ง Ultrasonography (USG): All PMSMA beneficiaries who have registered
would receive an examination by an Obstetrician / medical officer with the
report of their investigations. Based on the examination and reports of
investigations & USG reports.
๏ง Injection Tetanus Toxoid, Tablet Iron Folic Acid, Tablet Calcium and any
other medication prescribed by the Medical Officer

6. Counselling
๏ง All pregnant women would receive group counseling (in groups of 10-12)
on diet, sleep, regular ANC checkup, institutional delivery, breast feeding,
contraceptives etc.
๏ง Transportation facilities would be provided to pregnant women residing in
difficult / inaccessible areas where public transport is either not available
or very poor, PW from vulnerable communities and in blocks with home
deliveries > 20%

Pregnant woman can visit any government hospital/health center to
register & avail this scheme.
7. Pregnant Women Health Care Scheme
๏ง Financial assistance upto 6,000 INR for pregnant women (before & after) child
birth at government hospitals.
๏ง Women can improve healthy diet and proper medication during & after
pregnancy period
๏ง Give birth to better healthy baby & provide health support to babies post
delivery
๏ง Cash to be transferred directly to woman account in 3 installments (3,000 INR,
1500 INR, 1500 INR)

Any pregnant women can enroll in this scheme need to register this in any
government health care centre (Working women who receive paid maternity
leave are exluded)
8. Swachh Bharat โ Toilets
Construction
Scheme Benefits:
๏ง Any individual who needs toilet to be constructed at his home, gets subsidy amount up to Rs 12,000 INR or 15,000
INR (SC/STs) from government.
How to enroll in this scheme?
๏ง Go to the local Swachh officer who is looking after your ward/block where you live and tell him or her that you
want to construct a toilet under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan scheme.
๏ง The Swachh officer will give a receipt, which is a proof that you can start the construction process under the
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan scheme. Once the construction is complete, you will be liable for the subsidized amount.
๏ง Suggest completing the construction of toilet within 45-50 days. The toilet constructed by her should have a door,
a water tank and a provision for light.
๏ง After the completion, go back to the Swachh officer telling that her construction is complete and you need the
subsidized amount. (You need to submit few documents like Ration Card, Aadhaar Card, Passbook Copy and one
passport size photo). After the submission of documents, the officer will release the fund that is Rs. 12,000 or Rs.
15,000 (SCs and STs).
9. Prime Ministerโs Small & Micro Industries
Development Scheme (MUDRA)
Scheme Benefits:
๏ง All non-farm sector income generating activities such as manufacturing,
trading and services whose financial assistance needs below Rs.10 lakhs are
known as MUDRA Loans
1. Shishu : loans upto Rs. 50,000/-
2. Kishor : loans above Rs. 50,000/- and upto Rs. 5 lakhs
3. Tarun : loans above Rs. 5 lakhs to Rs.10 lakhs

11. Prime Ministerโs Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY)
๏ง To safeguard the health of women & children by providing them with a
clean cooking fuel โ LPG, so that they donโt have to compromise their
health in smoky kitchens.
๏ง Under this scheme, 5 Cr LPG connections (additional 3 Cr target extended)
will be provided to BPL families with a support of Rs.1600 per connection.
๏ง Ensuring womenโs empowerment, especially in rural India, the
connections will be issued in the name of women of the households
12. A woman of the BPL household, may apply for a new LPG connection (in the
prescribed format) to the nearest LPG distributor.
๏ง While submitting the application form, the woman needs to submit
detailed address, Bank Account and Aadhar number of all members of the
household
๏ง The connection will be issued by the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) like
Bharat Gas, Indane, & HP Gas to the eligible beneficiaries after processing
the application.
๏ง In case the consumer opts for EMI, the EMI amount will be adjusted against
the subsidy amount due to the consumer on each refill

Scheme (Urban & Rural)
๏ง When India completes 75 years (2022) of Independence, every poor family
should own a pucca house with water connection, toilet facilities, 24 x 7
electricity supply and access.
๏ง Poor people living in urban cities/towns& rural villages do not own homes
& cannot afford high interest for housing loans.
๏ง Own house can improve the livelihood of poor people and reduce poor
people family burden & provide affordable housing for all
14. Urban:
๏ง A beneficiary is defined as a family comprising of husband, wife and unmarried children.
Women is given preference.
๏ง Such beneficiary should not own a pucca house either in his / her name or in the name of
any member of his / her family in any part of India to receive central assistance under the
Mission..
๏ง State Government is responsible for implementation.
๏ง 70 lending institutions including 45 housing finance companies, 15 scheduled banks, regional
rural and cooperative banks support this scheme for housing loans

๏ง The beneficiary in rural areas who living is kutcha houses & who do not own any house can
apply for this scheme. Women given preference.

๏ง Composite loan of 75% of project cost inclusive of term loan and working
capital with lowest interest rate
๏ง Loan is repayable in 7 years
๏ง Besides primary security, the loan may be secured by collateral security as
per banks.

17. STATE GOVERNMENT SCHEMES
๏ผ The Tamil Nadu government women welfare schemes department has
initiated, a comprehensive strategy aimed towards the protection and welfare
of girl children and women through schemes like The Chief Ministers Girl
Child
๏ผ The Social Welfare and Nutritious Meal Programme Department of the
Government of Tamil Nadu under the able guidance of the Honble Chief
Minister of Tamil Nadu had always ensured the welfare of the poor, the
downtrodden, Women, Children, Senior Citizens and third genders. Their
health, nutrition, education, protection and development have been
improved through various Social Welfare Schemes. They have also been
provided with innumerable opportunities and facilities to live a dignified
life.
18. MARRIAGE ASSISTANCE SCHEMES
โ In most communities, it is a customary cultural requirement for a girl to
wear โThirumangalyamโ made of gold during marriage and the parents
celebrate the marriage function according to their customs and cultural
backgrounds.
โ However, parents from economically weaker sections are not able to cope
with the burden of expenses towards the marriage of their daughters. In
order to help such parents and to encourage them to educate their
daughters till the right age, Marriage Assistance Schemes were introduced
by the Government. Five Marriage Assistance Schemes are implemented to
help the daughters of poor parents, orphan girls, widows who re-marry,
widows daughterโs marriage and inter-caste married couples.
19. SCHEMES
Scheme-I
โ Education Qualification: The bride should have studied 10th Std (passed or failed), If
studied in private / Distance Education, bride should have passed 10th std, Bride should
have studied up to V Std in case of Scheduled Tribe.
โ Cash Assistance: `25,000 paid through ECS.
Scheme-II
โ Education Qualification: Degree holders from regular colleges, Distance education /
Government recognized Open University are eligible, Diploma holders should have
qualified from the Institution recognized by the Directorate of Technical Education,
Government of Tamil Nadu.
โ Cash Assistance: `50,000 paid through ECS.

making โThirumangalyamโ.
๏ถThere is no income ceiling and educational qualification prescribed to avail
benefit under this scheme. The degree / diploma holders are given `50,000,
out of which, `30,000 is given through ECS and `20,000 is given as National
Savings Certificate along with 4 gram 22 carat gold coin for making
โThirumangalyamโ.

and the other spouse from BC/MBC.
