Speaking
Learning Through Song
Guessing Song Game
(Students are asked to guess whether the singer, the title, or the genre of the song
while teacher singing the song)
Generic structures of Song:
• Introduction comes at the beginning of the song and contains just
music/instrument.
• Verse contains the details of the song, such as the story, the events,
images and emotions that the writer wishes to express and also to
support the chorus.
• Pre-Chorus functions the verse to transition into the chorus.
• Chorus contains the main idea, or big picture, of what is being
expressed and appears more than once in a song.
• Outro is a way of ending or completing the song.
Task 1 (Individual task)
Direction: Answer the meaning blanks on the table based on the lyric of the song.

Direction:
Now, think about your favorite song individually. Taking notes of the short
description and the moral message of your favorite song. Then, work in pairs to
discuss it with your chairmate. At the end, your will share the short description and
the moral message of your chairmate favorite song in front of the class that chosen
by the teacher.
