3. I was assigned to design a toy inspired by the architectural
movement “biometric blobism”, a movement in architecture in
which buildings have an organic, amoeba-shaped, building form.
After several experiments on materiality I created silicone forms
that bond together.

4. My first attempt to create a toy was inspired by
the divisions of a tennis ball. I dissected the
ball and worked with the shapes relationships
to each other.
Experimenting with clay-plaster-magnets-and rubbers I
created a sequence of different silicone shapes created
from a plaster mold. They connected to each other with
magnets centered within each shape.
A form that shapes and resizes to the inhibitors needs and movements
5. Using my refined mixture of silicone rubber I found a rubber that would
stick yet be dry enough to be enjoyable to play with. I formed the shapes
with a cupcake pan and experimented with different scales and colors.

The class assignment started with exploring a patent
design. I was given the patent of a French Press.
Therefore my buildings design was inspired by the
workings of the French Press, and the elements that
help the machine produce the “perfect cup of coffee”.
I explored the tangible; the coffee beans (solid), the water (liquid), and the steam (gas). The
intangible elements involved are time, speed, temperature and proportion. I paralleled the
creation of the perfect cup of coffee with the serendipitous formation of the planet, Earth. Where
for one speck in the whole universe where molecules of liquid, and gas and solid where
stirred into accidental life. Boiling at the perfect temperature just like the perfect cup of coffee.
8. Experiencing the perfect cup of coffee is enlightening; it’s a deep
satisfying breath out. The building is designed to dissolve to the back,
where the moment of a deep satisfying breath out would occur. You
enter the building into cold darkness and see a path to the back of the
building where the most illuminated spot is.
When look back at the building when the warm sunlight is illuminating
you also feel illuminated. The apparatus provides a location for awe,
a place to be astonished at existence. The purpose is to experience
wonder and marvel at the simple things, like a sip of the perfect coffee.

Our class was assigned to design a
building for a site in downtown Geneva that would
attract people while using our personal patent.
11. This is the original photograph that
inspired the project, a picture in
nature.
Here I created physical clouds that one could inhabit
and move through various levels of privacy. I studied
the clouds levels of transparency, evaporation and
formation, and incorporated it into my work.
14. Worked in a four person group and adopted social, economic, and environmental
cosciousness practices that applied to develop short and long term design interventions
to enhance the environmental quality and community well being in their area of down-
town Geneva: along South Exchange Street and Franklin Street.
