• Although the artist did not provide specific dates of their finalized projects, the value and depth of detail
showcase the number of years-to-months worth of work prior to the opening date of the museum in
Houston, Texas, which is December 26, 2020.
• Some found elements are the the use of shadows and multicolored system that Seismique uses to
enhance creativity and the intergalactic theme; through various LEDs, paintings, and projectors, buttons,
and dials within the museum. As well as the use of positives and negatives in the entry of the museum,
which emphasized a lot of open and negative space. There are many overlapping lines and many uses of
abstract themes. Many odd but eye-catching shapes were used and intersecting and swaying lines that
directed the eye movement of the viewer. Also, the use of concentrated values that highlight details in
the creations. There was also sci-fi like music rhythms that embraced a NASA exploration-like feeling.
• Things like hand cut PVC pipes, measurement of kinetic energy, musical and mechanical engineering,
the use of textiles, projection mapping, holograms, motion tracking, use of stickers, shattered glass, bio-
aesthetic, and the use of speakers and actuators are all technical qualities and tools used for the the
works.
• The main idea behind the museum was stated by Kopelman into the release, “this year has been
exceedingly difficult for the whole world, and we want Seismique to serve as something of a pandemic
panacea – a place where visitors can transport themselves to another realm and find creative inspiration
through the artistic manifestation of 40 different exhibits.” He wanted to collectively bring together
multiple artists and repurpose an old bath and body works shop to inspire and entertain others with an
interactive museums that is a “feasts for the senses.” (Seismique.com, 2020, PG2). The museum sticks
to their subject by encouraging those to develop their ideas into the real world through promoting
rewarding opportunities for STEM students.

• The works all vary in construction. The construction of these works range from manually operated
exhibits, projection mapping, holograms, augmented reality, light mapping, and motion-tracking. It
also includes intersecting lines, abstract movements, music, and themes, and calming frequencies.
All these aspects are used to help highlight the construction and planning of work.
• Some common characteristics throughout the work would have to be the space-alien-theme and
light fixtures. All the artworks include multicolored lights and material, they are also all interactive.
You can manually operate all the artworks in some way or form for your own experience. Also, all
of them have an illusion-like effect because of the immersive theme. I also recognized that because
it is a hands-on museum, most of the art creations have buttons or dials so you can operate them.
• Points of emphasis in the work are the HUB because it is the center of the museum. It is
intergalactic themed, so as you go through an alien-like fantasy-world of wormholes and vibrant
visuals, but the viewers all commonly meet at one place after all the extra passages, which is the
Spaceship center or the HUB.
• There are no characters or subjects related to each other because each artists had different visions
for a singular theme regardless of similar qualities in their work. Though, I can say what is related to
each other are the artists behind it because they all contributed to bringing each other’s work and
passion to life in some way. In a lack of better words, the artists, especially those who painted
murals on the walls, relate to each other because they play a role in evoking creative warmth and
holding a room for every exhibit in the museum.

• Expressive qualities in the museum would have to be the variety of works there are that express
creative freedom. The rhythm within the sound dominated parts of the museum express the
integration of musical engineering and art combined. There is repetition with the colors, in the
sense that you see vibrant colors everywhere. There’s also a repetition with lights, this repetition
expresses the museums desire to inspire a creative light in others. The alien like touch instills a
mind—bending experience that is brought upon by the artists, which expresses the endless
possibilities our minds can passionately physically produce from our mental escapes like art.
Some expressive language I would use is to describe the work as creatively enticing, richly
detailed, inspirational, fun, cool, unusual, and awesome.
• The works in the museum do remind me of somethings I have experienced. The HUB
reminds me of when my dad once bought this bubble machine for a New Years Eve party, and
we had all these LED and blacklights set up just like Seismique. The open setting, along with
the bubbles, and lights reminded me of that New Years Eve party with my family when my
home was decorated and open to all on a fun night.
• This exhibit relates to ideas like Avatar, because Eden is based off it. It also relates to
mechanical and musical engineering because sound systems were incorporated into the
artworks from hand-welded material. As well as other studies like positive world conservation
methods, because the exhibit was repurposed from a big box retailer to the popular and
immersive museum it is now. It also relates to events like sewing in the world because it
abstractly represents the energy flow of the people using the room through the color and
shapes crocheted in the playground.

• Qualities that make this work successful would have to be the. As someone who loves anything art
related, I craftsmanship, creativity, skill, consistency, and patience imagine how much it must have
taken to create all these great works. I think they perfectly executes what its like when local artists
come together and show that you have the potential to bring your work to life for the world to enjoy
and experience; which is so inspiring for so many upcoming artists.
• Some similar works to this museum would have to be The Infinite Space VR experience I went to a
couple months ago. It was a space exhibit inspired by NASA and both works offered intergalactic
themes in their displays. Many LEDs and backlights covered their walls closely related to most of
the light displays in Seismique. Although, it was VR, it integrated a lot of principles of design like
Seismique, which I appreciate.
• Extra criteria I can offer to help someone judge this work would be to analyze the tools and sizing
used in the work, see the craftsmanship behind it. I could also look at the movement or flow of the
art, what is it persuading you to see? Analyze the focus of the work, what is environment is being
mainly illustrated? I would advise hearing the sounds, what emotion or feeling is being evoked. As
well as any textures, what does it want you to feel? I would also suggest looking at any shadows or
forms the work take. This will help you set your judgment for the works and have a fair bias when
you see the effort behind it.
• In my best opinion, the works are very original. Although some like, Eden, are based on The
Avatar, all the artworks have their unique touch from the artists that separate the work from the
inspiration behind it. I also believe it’s an original piece because the creators of Seismique stated
that the artists have collectively worked on their own pieces to bring the museum to life.
