LANGKAAN II
Langkaan is a barangay located on the
south-western part of Dasmariñas in Cavite,
Philippines. The name "Langkaan" came from
the word "langka" meaning jackfruit; which is
believed to be planted in many parts of this
barangay during the 1900, the year of its
foundation. Barangay Langkaan was a part of a
vast hacienda during the Spanish period that's
why there are numerous water systems for
ricefields that can be found here.
3. LANGKAAN II
Barangay Langkaan was a part of a vast hacienda
during the Spanish period that's why there are
numerous water systems for ricefields that can be
found here. The San Agustin Dam as constructed in
1855. On the last part of the 19th century, the
Spaniards erected an indigo plantation here. The stone
-made grinder of indigo still exists until now and it is
the mark of the Spanish influence in the place. The
Spaniards are the first ones who planted sugar canes
and became the primary source of income during the
18th century. During those times, tarapiche and
carabaos are used to make panucha and paldo. Don
Placido Campos and Andres Medina are the ones who
owned these tarapiche.
4. LANGKAAN II
During the Second World War, the Japanese had a
big plantation of cotton trees in Langkaan.
Dasmarineños were forced to work here. A Japanese
concentration camp was also established in this area.
Now, this is considered to be a backbone of the
economic progress of Dasmariñas. The presence of
numerous factories in different industrial estates in this
area, such as the First Cavite Industrial Estate, serves
as the working place for the workers living in
Dasmariñas and other towns of Cavite as well.

Japanese people are very polite and respe
ctful. Their culture is very outstanding and
obvious just by observing the people that’s
why it can’t be denied their economy is hig
hly developed, because the people is partic
ipating and following the rules and regulati
ons of the country.
The pictures presented mostly on their stre
ets where I'm truly amazed. You can actua
lly walk at night without worrying you would
be harmed, the streets are
well lighted, as well as they
provide bicycle lane, to also
reduce pollution by using
vehicles. The community
also is very walkable you
can just walk a couple of
minutes and you can pass
around a market, or comme
rcial buildings from your
home.
31. WHAT I LEARNED ABOUT BONIFACIO GLOBAL CITY (BGC)
BGC is a beautiful
community. From what I have
observed, BGC has trees in
order to replace its lost
footprint for buildings. Yet still,
more trees are still needed.
They have wider roads, parks
and uniquely designed
benches for the people not to
sleep on. Then their central
car parks for the people is an
excellent way to provide car
parks in each areas, but
instead save spaces.

36. THE GARDEN COMMUNITY
A concept for the continuous improvement of Langkaan 2
The concept is to move towards a “gardenized community” and create forms and structures that will amplify
sustainable yet through provoking designs. Using sustainable concepts, it is a contemporary response to the
garden community concept. Bringing visions into reality. Garden communities were intended to be planned,
self-contained community surrounded by green practices, containing proportionate areas for studying,
pedestrians and agriculture.
The concept of the Garden Community represents the ameniating culture of us Filipinos. Other amenities
and edifices are also integrated with Filipino ideals. The overall will be focusing in creating forms and
structures that amplify sustainable; living with the hums of trees and gardens, that is to move towards the
Garden Community. The idea is to achieve complexity through layers of simplicity. In this sense, equality will
be showcased into the design and also creating a fun and interactive environment for all throughout learning.
