2. Planning
During my planning stage I started using a new piece of software called Drawboard for my
storyboarding and idea which helped me keep all my plans, drawings and storyboards digitally archived
and printable meaning that I can access them whenever and wherever and they also wouldn’t be lost
which was a big bonus for me as not only did it keep my story boards from being lost but I could
constantly update them whenever I had an idea and keep them pristine whenever I wanted to upload
them. When it came to filming, this helped as well because I could show the actors what the picture
looked like in my head and use that to better direct each scene.
As well as this I used survey monkey to document, record, analyse and reach all my target audience
members. Survey monkey made it easy to ask questions of my target audience from all over the globe
as I had friends from Thailand, shanghai, Sweden, Germany, Spain, Italy and London answer my survey
to get a more accurate result. As well as this survey monkey let me create graphs to analyse my results
quickly and easily which was beneficial. Surveys from survey monkey also definitely helped shape my
film because with these surveys I could determine what I wanted to keep in my film, what plots I should
use, what locations are best suited and what my audience would like to see.

3. Production & filming
During my filming stage, as aforementioned Drawboard helped me keep all my necessary scenes and
ideas on the cloud which made filming a lot less painful as my actor knew exactly what I wanted from
them which made them better suited for getting the job done quicker. I also utilized the OneDrive app
by uploading already filmed footage on there so when I’m reshooting scene I can explain what went
wrong to the actor the first time and explain what I’d like done differently which also was beneficial and
time saving. Lastly, I always brought my laptop to each session of filming I did as this then allowed me
after I finished filming to import the footage onto my laptop and preview it and notice any errors in film
and reshoot it while continuity remained constant which was a bonus when filming overseas.
Because I had my own camera this benefited my filming time as it meant I could film and re-film to my
schedule and because my actors are all boarders this meant re-filming small scenes were much easier
for me than for others. On major thing I learned from this whole experience is the importance of sound
whilst filming and editing. Sound in my filming was one of my major failures, I neglected to use
microphones which led to me having to re record numerous different scenes wasting precious editing
time I had and is something I will definitely change in the next piece I produce.

4. Editing
Whilst editing I learned a lot of new skills using final cut pro through YouTube
tutorials and online tutorials so that definitely affected the level to which I could
edit. I learned colour presenting, colour masking, overlaying opacities, title
sequence transitions and many many more from YouTube which all benefited my
final edit immeasurably. Whilst editing learning about these aspects and learning
how to properly edit in Final cut pro also benefited my actors as poor lighting
could be fixed and any small inconsistencies can be covered and even in one case
saving me refiling because the colour of the blood was off so the saturation colour
board helped me prevent refiling that scene.
