KCG introduces new system for educating students of Gujarat
Ahmedabad: (Paridhi Bhatnagar and Tushar Pokar) Gujarat’s higher education students will
soon getting a new facility of Active Learning Methodology (ALM). The method contains round
table on the floor sitting 3-4 students around tables and one teacher guiding them. Students can
get knowledge by participating in the process.
The concept has been taken by the Government of Gujarat from Chennai’s municipal schools. In
Chennai, around 11000 municipal schools are running this project of educating and giving
training to the students. A team from Department of Education (Government of Gujarat) has
visited these schools in Chennai and made a research on how the project works. They presented
the concept to the officials and have started a project under the KCG institute.
Knowledge Consortium Gujarat (KCG) run by Department of Education of Government of
Gujarat. As explained by one of the assistant of Miss Nandini, the Chairperson of KCG; it has
started its project by giving training to 8 conventional universities of Gujarat. Gujarat College
had been chosen to imply the training session to the faculties coming from 8 universities. Around
50 participants have came to attend this session. KCG has requested the available participants to
begin the program in their respective campuses. If the program succeeds in providing knowledge
to the students and if it gets positive feedback than KCG will expand its idea to all other
universities.
This program held for the first time in India for higher education and that too in Gujarat. Hope
that this program will spread over the other universities of Gujarat and will make positive change
in its education system.
