Hello everyone,
Here I prepared a slide on structuralism.Structuralism is a movement in architecture and urban planning that evolved around the middle of the 20th century. It was a reaction to Rationalism's (CIAM-Functionalism) perceived lifeless expression of urban planning that ignored the identity of the inhabitants and urban forms. So I want to share this.

3. Introduction:
What is Structuralism?
structuralism is a movement in architecture and urban planning that evolved
around the middle of the 20th century. It was a reaction to Rationalism perceived
lifeless expression of urban planning that ignored the identity of the inhabitants
and urban forms.
Brief Description about Structuralism:
Structuralism in a general sense is a mode of thought of the 20th century,
which originated in linguistics. Other disciplines like anthropology,
psychology, economy, philosophy and also art took on structuralist ideas and
developed them further. An important role in the development of structuralism
played Russian Formalism also the School of Prague. Roland Barthes a key
figure of structuralist thought, argued that there was no complete structuralist
philosophy but only a structuralist method.
4. History/Background:
Principle:Structuralism holds that, according to the human way of understanding
things, particular elements have no absolute meaning or value: their meaning or
value is relative to other elements. Everything makes sense only in relation to
something else. An element cannot be perceived by itself.
What was structuralism influenced by-
Structuralism was predominately influenced by the schools of phenomenology
and of Gestalt psychology, both of which were fostered in Germany between
1910 and the 1930s. Phenomenology was a school of philosophical thought that
attempted to give philosophy a rational, scientific basis.
First artist of structuralism:
The origins of structuralism are connected with the work of Fardinand de
sassure on linguistics along with the linguistics of the Prague and Moscow
schools.

6. Famous Artworks:
The Kimbell Art Museum in Fort,
Worth,texas hosts an art collection
as well as traveling art exhibitions,
educational programs and an
extensive research library. Its initial
artwork came from the private
collection of Kay and Velma
Kimbell, who also provided funds
for a new building to house it.
The building was designed by
architect Louis I. Khana and is
widely recognized as one of the
most significant works of
architecture of recent times. It is
especially noted for the wash of
silvery natural light across its
vaulted gallery ceilings.
7. HABITAT 67, or simply Habitat,
is a housing complex at Cité du
Havre, on the Saint Lawrence
River, Montreal, Quebec,
Canada, designed by Israeli-
Canadian architect Moshe
Safdie. It originated in his
master's thesis at the School of
Architecture at McGill
University and then an
amended version was built
for Expo 67, a World's Fair held
from April to October 1967. Its
address is 2600 Avenue Pierre-
Dupuy, next to the Marc-
Drouin Quay. Habitat 67 is
considered an
architectural landmark and a
recognized building in
Montreal.
8. The Pavillon Le Corbusier is
a Swiss art
museum in Zürich-
Seefeld at Zürichhorn dedica
ted to the work of the Swiss
architect Le Corbusier. In
1960 Heidi Weber had the
vision to establish a museum
designed by Le Corbusier –
this building should exhibit
his works of art in an ideal
environment created by the
architect himself in the
then Centre Le
Corbusier or Heidi Weber
Museum. In April 2014 the
building and museum went
over to the city of Zürich,
and was renamed in May

10. My thinking about Structuralism:
It is one of the most important part in architecture,
It assumes that the worls has a logical pattern.
