4. The Many Roles of Music in Film
 Music in a general release dramatic film serves many different
functions.
 Good film music supports the story, and a skillfully
composed musical cue can serve both technical and aesthetic
functions.
 A good film composer will use a variety of compositional
tools and techniques, as well as an appropriate palette of
orchestration colors in support of the story.
