7. Potential causes
Tension of the spring is not the operating range.
Cushion Pin Height is not set proper by the operator or it changes during
operation. ( Loss in cushion pressure)
Die surface is not polished. This will result in scoring and eventually cracks.
Too much pressure is set for the cushion by the operator
Oil is not used at properly for lubrication on the sheet metal
Thickness of the sheet metal is not good
How to Identify
Visually
8. Suggestion to control it
Spring in the die should be changed at regular interval.
Hydraulics of the cushion pin lines should be checked every 6 months
Die must be polished every time before it is taken into the press.
Pressure readings should be given to the operator( Proper training)
Maintain the Checklist and use always during the manufacturing process
10. Potential causes
Loose Cushion Pin
Too much oil on the surface of the die/Sheet metal.
Cushion pin loses its pressure during operation
Slug deposits in Cushion can cause height variations of die.
Die is not bolted to the bed with proper torque
Improper alignment of the die during setting of the die on the bed (Operator
mistake)
Improper placement of the Sheetmetal on the die by robot.
11. Suggestion to control it
Hydraulic lines of cushion pin must be checked periodically
Monitor the spray of oil on the sheet metal
Remove the slug first before die removal
Use hydraulic bolts.
Provide proper training to the operator
Check pneumatic pressure of robot’s Gripper.
Maintain the checklist always during manufacturing process
