9. CONTACT FORCE & TYPES
• A force that can
cause or change the
motion of an object
by touching it is
called contact force.
• Types:
– Muscular force
– Frictional force
13. FRICTIONAL FORCE
• The running person slow down due to the
force acting between the person and the
ground. It is the force of friction which causes
the person to rest.
The frictional force is always in a direction
opposite to the direction of motion of the
object.
14. NON-CONTACT FORCE & TYPES
• A non-contact force
is any force applied
to an object by
another body
without any
contact.
• Types:
– Magnetic Force
– Gravitational Force
– Electrostatic Force
18. GRAVITATIONAL FORCE
• When an object is thrown in upward direction,
the object falls towards the earth. It is
because the earth pulls them down. This force
is called force of gravity.
• It is an attractive force.
• Example of non-contact force.
20. ELECTROSTATIC FORCE
The force exerted by a charged body on
another charged or uncharged body is known
as electrostatic force.
• This force acts when the bodies are not in
contact.
