I have been working as Team Lead Maintenance (Instrumentation & Control Systems)
for the last 4 years. I have been associated with renowned Attock Refinery Limited
Rawalpindi since December 2014. I have been assigned various critical overhauling
jobs related to sophisticated plants like DHDS, Distillation and Isom Units.
• Could you please give at least 3 mechanical / electrical tasks you have
handled?
I am Team Lead for quarterly planned and Pre-emptive overhauling of vibration
Monitoring system Bentley Nevada 3500 on Mitusi compressors. My primary tasks are
to lead Instrumentation team for servicing, overhauling, maintaining, replacing Mitsui
compressors Instruments like rod drop, proximity sensors, instrument air conduits,
Local operating panel, PLC module S7-400 and I/O cards installed on Mitsui
compressors, maintained snubber drums, lube oil circuits and many more. I schedule
these jobs, allocate team and resources to accomplish assigned maintenance jobs
within give shut down frame.
I have developed SOPs for overhauling of Panametric Oxygen Analyzer, calibration of
analyzer with span gases, zirconia sensor replacement, LOP settings, developing
charts for accurate concentration of oxygen in heater flue gases against different fuels.
This is very sensitive, time consuming and sophisticated job. I am team lead for
maintenance of oxygen analyzers on various distillation plants heaters.
On routine basis, I supervised and lead Installation, calibration, repairing, overhauling
and troubleshooting of Pneumatic & Electronic instruments used for sensing,
measuring, recording & controlling purpose of pressure, flow, temperature, level,
speed, vibration, PH, & conductivity.
2. . In 2017, I was an active team member for commissioning of 24 MW MAN captive
power Plant from MAN. I coordinated with Siemens Engineers and lead my team for
lying bus bar, enabling power distribution strategy, ARL Load shedding scheme and
load sharing scheme of generators. Since I am team member for Overhauling of
SACOS one, Symap, Synchro CCP, Gencet control panel, LOPs, SIPROTEC, VCBs
at 24 MW captive Power plant facility under the direct authority of Maintenance
General Manager.
In 2016, during commissioning of new distillation and reforming units, I planned,
supervised and lead Electrical instrument cable laying from plants to CCR, channeling
multicore safety cables to marshalling cabinets, managed lying cable trays and
coordination with Hyundai Engineers for installation of plant assets.
I Lead 12 TPH Boilers instrumentation maintenance and tuning of three Element loop,
SIL-3 level probes, Economizer, safety chains, and hydro-testing of each boiler.
I am team Lead for calibration, certification and maintenance of Pressure safety valves
during Plant shut down and Boilers pre-planned progressive maintenance.
I conduct morning meeting (Integrated work system) for job allocation and supervision
of routine plant service requests from operation department, routing service requests
to maintenance Manager.
My miscellaneous routine jobs are DP and rotary pumps maintenance, LT, FT, PT and
TT transmitters flushing, zero trimming and calibration, modifying P&IDs, servo valves
and krohne gas detectors servicing.
• Could you tell me any special trainings you have related to this job, if there is
any?
Attock Refinery has extensive training program through indigenous instructors and
global peers such as Honeywell, Emerson, Fischer, Maesonilan and siemens and
many others are giving training to ARL Engineers and technicians. I have Control
valves maintenance, sizing and selection training from Emerson &Fisher valves.
I had two-week training on Honey well DCS C-300, C-200 and TDC-3000 for alarms
configurations, establishing SCADA points, configuring & tuning PID control loops,
DCS maintenance, replacing I/O cards, configuring new control points
I had a week training course on “Organization leadership” in British American Tobacco
Industry Pakistan for managing resources & technology, leading innovation, bringing
value addition to business, taking initiatives, motivating & managing team and
integrated working system in business organization.
I have biannually Basic safety training courses at ARL for safety related issues with
plant maintenance, Electronic Work permit systems, conforming to ISO-14001
standards, Ergonomics, work place behavior and ARL safety standards.
3. Additionally, my highest qualification is MS (18 years) after Engineering. My MS
degree is in Energy materials. It was fully funded scholarship by USAID Pakistan. I
sought degree in Energy Materials and sustainable Energy Development. This
additional education led me a useful team member for implementation of ISO-50001
Energy management system at ARL. I have research paper for developing Electro-
mechanical Braking system for Wind turbine.
• What safety measures do you strictly follow in product handling to minimize
damages or deterioration?
I strictly adhere to personal safety of myself and my team members by training and
guiding them on safety measures while doing job and conforming strictly to OSHA
standards and ARL safety codes. For many routine jobs simple PPEs are enough and
safely handle maintenance jobs other than hot works. I advocate to my team members
safety precautions, following pre-defined SOPs, following work permit checks and
efficiently using safety equipments suiting for a particular type of job. I personally care
for Environment, work place ethics and leadership to pursue technical jobs optimally
and safely.
• What do you think is the most difficult situation you’ve experience handling
this kind of job?
I have seen multiple challenging situations during maintenance job such as negligence
of safety precautions by your team members and they are risking their health/safety
and plant asset. I had worked many times on systems pertaining to most lethal gas
Hydrogen sulphide in the plant assembly. Working with Hydrogen sulphide is
extremely challenging situation for myself and for my workers since minor leakage,
laxity in safety precaution could led to unbearable hazards. I have always been quite
cautious while working on Sulphur recovery plant SRU where all instruments are
directly dealing with Hydrogen sulphide.
Likewise, Sometimes I have to work maintenance job on the Control systems such as
DCS, PLC and localized controllers where a single minor mistake could lead to
incidental shut down of critical plant or assembly line. Numerously, I have been
working on Hydrogen plant PLC modules, valves and other related mechanical and
electrical instruments where a single blunder could cause a potential hazard.
• How soon can you join?
I don’t have any compulsion. So, I can join as soon as possible.
• Do you have any certificates available to prove your experience in your job as
a Maintenance Officer?
4. Yes, I have experience certificate, training certificates, recommendation letters and
degrees. These certificates are valuable enough to prove my experience, worthiness
and accomplishments.
• The budget of my client is AED5000+600 plus standard benefits. Are you willing
to accept this once chosen for the role?
Yes, I am willing for this budget amount. I expect free visa and ticket.
