Answers to Your VAT/Tax Questions
• What is VAT?
     – VAT is a consumption tax, like Sales Tax that is built into the price of an item. For
example if a bicycle is priced at $100 and is sold in a country with 20% VAT, then the true
price of the bicycle is $83.33 with a VAT of $16.67.
• How do sellers handle VAT?
     – When you start selling on international venues, you’ll need to register for VAT, appoint
tax representatives (where required ) and fill in your VAT declarations (when required).
You should also take care to build VAT into your items’ prices.
• Are there other taxes sellers need to deal with internationally?
     – If you’re exporting your items to Europe or other countries you should be aware that
you will have to pay customs taxes.
• Do I need an international accountant?
     – For some countries you’ll need local representatives and in the others you should be
fine as long as you are aware of the tax regulations.
• Do I need an international bank account? Do I need one in each country I am selling in/to?
     – Depending on the venue, a new account may or may not be required. For UK and most
European countries, you can use a US Bank account. Italy, Canada and Japan require
         local bank accounts.
Answers to Your Shipping Questions
• What is the best International shipping method? For small
  amounts? For large amounts?
   – For small shipments, USPS First Class can be a good value. For larger
shipments, DHL or FedEx can offer the best rates. Depending on
volume you may be quoted a rate as low as $3 or less per pound to the
     UK.
• Do I need to learn about palleting?
   – It depends. If you’re sending larger shipments, then palletized
shipments can make sense. Even shipments of a few hundred pounds
can be sent through FedEx or DHL Global Mail without pallets.
• Can Amazon handle any of this for me?
   – Amazon Jumpstart can help you migrate your listings to European
     venues.
   – SellerEngine Services can help with all of this. We can help you with a
new bank account, help you find the best shipping provider and
     anything else that you need.
Answers to Your International Sales
              Questions
• Do I need to do anything differently to my descriptions for
international or will Amazon translate them?
    – If your items are already in the catalog they don’t need to be
translated. If you’re adding new items to the Amazon catalog, then
you’ll need to translate them to the native language of the venue.
• How can I know if I can’t sell an item internationally?
    – Each country has its own set of restricted products and gated
categories. You can find these in Amazon’s help documents for each
      venue.
• How can SellerEngine help manage these additional channels?
    – Members of our services team speak all the languages needed to add
products to Amazon catalogs and provide outstanding customer
support in each of these languages. They’re experts with experience
selling on all Amazon venues. And we have the resources to help you
      ship and fulfill internationally.
