Script for my romantic comedy called 'The Wright One?'

NARRATOR (V.O)
Victoria Snow has spent her
entire life trying to live up
to the fairytale she’s named
after but she is beginning to
wonder whether life has a
happily-ever-after after all.
INT. LOCAL CAFÉ. - DAY
VICTORIA SNOW is on a lunch date. It is not going very well.
Restaurant sounds echo throughout the scene – cutlery on
plates, glasses placed on tables, people ordering food, waiter
bustling about etc.
Wide shot of Victoria sat at a table in a restaurant on the
first vertical line of the rule of thirds.
Close-up, over the shoulder shot of her irritated-looking
face.
Extreme close-up of Victoria’s hands gathering her bag and
purse so that she can leave.
Wide sequence shot of Victoria leaving the table and the
restaurant. The man sat at her table looking after her
confused.
NARRATOR (V.O)
Edward Wright is an entirely
different story. He is trying
desperately to stop his family
business from failing.
INT. MEETING ROOM. – DAY
EDWARD WRIGHT is stood at the head of a table of business
personnel presenting a downward-sloped graph that signals the
failure of the Wright Advertising Company.
Cut to Edward--
INT. EDWARD’S DESK. – DAY

2. Wide shot of his very organised and bland desk. There is a
note in the middle of it.
Wide shot using shallow focus on the note – from behind the
desk – showing Edward walking up to the note.
Close-up of Edward picking up the note.
Over-the-shoulder shot of Edward reading the note – allowing
audience to read it also. It reads: Eddie! Pick Fiona up at
the airport at 3! She’s your new fiancé! Love, Mum xx
Close-up to see Edward roll his eyes and sigh loudly.
EXT. OFFICE BUILDING. – DAY
Establishing shot.
INT. FOYER OF VICTORIA AND EDWARD’S WORK BUILDING. – DAY
Wide shot of the setting.
INT. OFFICE FOYER KITCHEN. - DAY
Close-up of Victoria making tea.
Extreme close-up of the tea whilst being stirred.
INT. OFFICE FOYER. - DAY
Wide shot of Victoria walking with her tea and looking at a
newspaper in her hand whilst Edward walks towards her from the
opposite direction, talking distractedly in the phone.
Close-up of them both as they nearly knock each other down.
They say almost simultaneously:
EDWARD
(Dismissively)
Oh, sorry
VICTORIA
Sorry

3. The sequence continues. Neither of them take any notice of the
other. They don’t even glance at the other.
INT. TRAIN STATION. – DAY
Victoria is standing with Suzie Halem talking about her
unsuccessful love life.
Edward is stood a little way away from them.
The wide shot shows the characters are placed on both vertical
lines of the rule of thirds composition.
INT. MEETING ROOM. – DAY
Wide shot of Victoria as she is walking into the meeting room
just as Edward is walking out. They brush shoulders but
otherwise do not notice each other.
Close-up showing them going through the door.
EXT. LOCAL PARK. – DAY
Long shot of Victoria and Suzie walking together.
Close-up shot/reverse shot as they are talking.
VICTORIA
I’m never going to find a man!
SUZIE
You’re just not looking in the
right place. He’s probably
right under your nose and you
haven’t even noticed him!

INT. OFFICE PARTY DINNER PARTY. – EVENING
Victoria is stood by one of the tables with Suzie and Edward.
SUZIE
Victoria! This is Edward
Victoria and Edward look at each other awkwardly.
Cut to--

4. INT. OFFICE PARTY DINNER PARTY. – EVENING
Victoria and Edward are sat next to each other and are eating
in silence.
INT. OFFICE PARTY DINNER PARTY. – EVENING
Suzie is stood beside the bar with Victoria as Edward walks
over.
VICTORIA
Well, I should be going
SUZIE
I’m sure Edward will walk you
home, won’t you?
EDWARD
Err, sure
Cut to--
EXT. STREET NEAR VICTORIA’S HOUSE. – EVENING
Edward and Victoria are walking down the street. It looks
almost like they are walking home at the end of a date. This
concept is not lost on the characters.
EDWARD
I didn’t know you worked in the
office
VICTORIA
Yeah, I’m kind of a behind-the-
scenes-admin-type-person
EDWARD
What sort of stuff do you do?
VICTORIA
Oh, you know, try and boost the
sales of the company. I would
do so much better as well if it
weren’t for the fact that I
have to get coffee for everyone

5. Edward is beginning to realise how much of an asset to the
company Victoria is. She could be the key to prevent it from
failing.
EXT. VICTORIA’S FRONT DOOR. – EVENING
Victoria and Edward stop in front of her front door. Victoria
gets her keys out and opens the door slightly.
Cut to--
Close-up of Edward looking at Victoria.
EDWARD
You are very interesting
Victoria.
I don’t know how I’ve never
noticed you before.
INT. OFFICE FOYER KITCHEN. – DAY
Victoria is making two cups of tea exactly the same way.
She is smiling and humming to herself.
Cut to--
INT. EDWARD’S DESK. – DAY
Victoria walks up to Edward’s desk and hands him one of the
cups of tea. He smiles gratefully and starts chatting to
Victoria.
EDWARD
Cheers.
How’s it going?
Cut to--
Long shot of Edward and Victoria chatting and laughing. They
look like are getting along really well.
EXT. LOCAL PARK. – DAY

6. Victoria and Edward are on a date. They are walking and have a
picnic packed. They are chatting and getting along really
well.
EXT. LOCAL PARK. – DAY
Suzie and Victoria are wandering around the park and talking
about Edward.
VICTORIA
He’s just so sweet. He’s taking
me dancing next week. Dancing!
I’m so excited.
EXT. LOCAL PARK. – DAY
Edward is walking with FIONA WRONG. He has his arm around her.
Suzie Halem also happens to be at the park and spots Edward
from behind a tree.
INT. MEETING ROOM. – DAY
Suzie is talking in a low voice (hushed whispers?) to
Victoria.
SUZIE
He’s cheating on you.
I saw him with another woman.
He had his arm around her and
she was totally not just a
friend.
Cut to--
Reaction close-up shot of Victoria.
EXT. LOCAL PARK. – DAY
Victoria and Edward are stood facing each other. Victoria is
stood stand-offishly.
VICTORIA
We’re over. Done!

7. I don’t ever want to see you
again!
INT. OFFICE FOYER. – DAY
Victoria is moping about Edward and trying to avoid him.
Whenever he walks by she will point-blank ignore him or run
into the kitchen to hide.
INT. EDWARD’S DESK. – DAY
Edward is moping and pining for Victoria. His head is on his
desk.
INT. MEETING ROOM. – DAY
Edward is talking to Fiona Wrong about their arranged
marriage. He is telling her that he loves another.
EDWARD
I can’t marry you. I’ve fallen
for someone else.

Cut to--
Extreme close-up to close-up of Fiona yanking her engagement
ring off her finger and handing it to Edward.
Long wide shot of Fiona Wrong storming out of the office. She
is angry that Edward doesn’t want to marry her.

Montage of images of the characters introducing them by their
character’s name and their actor’s name.
