3. UPSTREAM CAPABILITIES
Central tank batteries
CTB construction for various sizes of tank batteries. From simple monitoring systems to high flow systems
that included tank monitoring, vessel monitoring with dump valve control, fluid transfer with pump and
valve control, LACT units, liquid and gas flow metering for allocation and sales meters. Most of these
systems have the capability of handling approximately 20K BBLS per day of Oil and 8K BBLS of water.
Unconventional water injection facilities
These facilities were developed to inject excess water back into the reservoir. We optimized the system
using automated control valves, injection pumps that were controlled using a PID loop based off inlet
pressure and water tank level to maintain a consistent injection flow rate. Some of these facilities handle in
the range of 70K BBLS of water a day.
Conventional water flood facilities
These facilities were designed to incorporate designated injection wells not to exceed specific daily flow
rates per BLM restrictions. Along with specific water supply wells the communicated via WiMax
Communications to various PLC’s to determine the supply of water needed for injection.
Transfer stations
Consisted of local and remote tank monitoring from various PLC locations to determine local pump and
valve control. As a safety measure, a well-shutdown system was utilized in the event of an anomaly in the
system.
Gas Plant
This was a new build facility with a 500HP compressor, Dehy system, JT Skid, flare system, and various
vessels for removing fluids from the system. We utilized the compressor Centurion controller with our PLC
to determine compressor shut-down status, and inlet valve control, and flare valve control. While
monitoring other variables on the Dehy and JT skid.
Wireless skid monitoring system
This wireless system was developed as a cost saving method to monitoring low flow facilities. Using
Emerson wireless transmitters and gateway on a solar skid mounted system. This was a reduction in
programming and installation cost by $96K per facility. This also resulted in an installation time from 3
weeks to 3 days turn around per facility.
Polymer injection facility
This project was developed as a pilot for increasing the overall production of the reservoir. It utilized 5 PD
injection pumps, and a Polymer processing skid with three settling tanks and a polymer chopper system. It
was designed to change the chemical composition of the water to match that of the oil in effort to
penetrate deeper into the reservoir.
Liquid and gas flowmeter projects
This project consisted of installing 150 Total Flow gas flow meters and the communication system using
MDS Transnet radios and cell phone modems to relay data back to the local HMI and SQL server for
gathering historical data and reporting.

UPSTREAM CAPABILITIES
Emergency generation projects
Installed five 80KW generators for emergency backup dedicated to the SCADA system.
Stand-alone solar skid systems
These systems were design to provide power to remote locations for PLC’s and radio communications for
various sites.
RF communication projects
Various communications projects utilizing WiMax, Inet-I, Inet-II, and Transnet radios for point-to-point and
point-to-multipoint systems.
Well-control systems
Installed Lufkin SAMS controllers for pumping units that incorporated a pressure shut-down system to
prevent over pressure of flow lines. In addition to a well-shut down card that communicates back to various
PLC’s
Flare systems
Installed an automated flare controls that incorporated monitoring and gathering historical data for
reporting to the Rail Road Commission and BLM reporting.
Compressor stations
We have automated several compressor stations that encompassed full compressor monitoring with
historical data gathering and trending.
Wireless Well monitoring system
This project was designed to monitor the casing and tubing pressure on numerous wells to support the
production engineering team in optimizing the wells. This data was relayed back to other facilities for local
and remote HMI, trending, and historical data. This was also a cost saving project of $25K per well location.
VRU (Vapor Recovery Unit) Projects
Every Central Processing Facility utilized a VRU for gas recovery efforts. Gas volume and system status was
monitored in determining failures in the VRU or anomalies in the processing facility.
Drilling Capabilities
BOP Transporter system
Designed a complete electric BOP transporter system using 22 variable speed drives, motor encoders, with
redundant PLC’s. Every system was designed as a skid system for housing the different pieces of the BOP.
This was for offshore locations.

5. PROJECTS SUMMARY
PROCESSES AND STANDARDS
PM Processes
We have developed a preventive maintenance system that test from the end device to the
remote HMI including the callout system. This test and documents the full functionality of
the SCADA structure.
MOC Processes
We can assist with the OSHA required MOC (management of change) process to incorporate
new or existing changes to facilities. This system engages all people that are directly affected
by the change process.
SCADA Facility classification standards
We have a classification system for facilities that has helped companies determine a
standard equipment load based off fluid production. This process creates a cost savings to
customers by determine the priority of callouts and the minimum equipment to be installed
while keeping the facility in a safe condition.
Industrial IRM (Information Risk Management)
We have developed standards and guidelines around ISO 31000:2009 for industrial system
protection. This also provides training to employees that covers why it is important to have
IRM along with physical security standards. Third party audits are also conducted to test the
strength and vulnerability of the system.
