To whom it may concern:
It is my pleasure to write this recommendation letter for Scott Semchenko for a teaching position
in a middle school setting. Scott joined our grade six team in October of this school year and is
a positive addition to my class. Although he is assigned to work as a one to one para educator,
Scott circulates and interacts with all the students. His prior experience as a teacher is an
extremely valuable asset.
It is not easy being in so many classes, taught by different teachers, with such a myriad of
student needs. Scott handles these challenges with adeptness, enthusiasm, and compassion.
He is skilled in a variety of subject matter, beyond his content certification in middle school
humanities and an elementary certification in general curriculum. Beyond academics, he is a
skilled artist and musician. He will often draw detailed diagrams on the board for my more visual
learners. He helps all students, even students who don’t think they need assistance.
Scott is exceptional when it comes to managing and redirecting students in terms of behavior.
He is incredibly empathetic and kind, but with a firm touch as needed. Scott has a terrific
understanding of the variety of differing abilities, not just on our team but in our building.
In terms of after school commitments,Scott ran a successful intramural volleyball program. He
also provided technical help for our production of ​The Sound of Music​. These activities gave
Scott the opportunity to develop relationships with students beyond our team.
