Time: Project 1 month
Objectives
Students will learn:
To create a video
The phenomenon of transpiration
To understand the role of bacteria in human body and the pathogenic results
The phenomenon of reflection
The phenomenon of water change phases
The technological methodologies of design – create from material – process
Drama
A group of 4 people after an accident they had with their van they decided to
walk in the desert to find their way to the nearest village….
Staring with drama ………………
After time walking in the hot sand in the middle of the dessert they had drink
all the water they already had and feeling exhausted start to become thirsty
as well……
…… and they feel more and more thirsty.
After some hours they find an oasis
Each team create a video about the situation in “Create Corner in FCL”
The sweating of each body and the transpiration is very high ....
Biology – Teach the phenomenon of transpiration and the effects in the body
In their back packs they have a pizza box, tissues, aluminum foils,
scissors, metal bottles, tapes, pen, paper, mirror, sponge, flashlight
The group in desert have to decide what could be done to find a solution
A questionnaire given to student’s teams asking for possible actions
A. Drink water immediately.
B. Wait and try to clean the water.
C. Anything else you can imagine or create.
The answers are pointing in the “Present Corner” of FCL
Possibility 1
Drinking water immediately
Biology – Teaching about bacteria and the pathological effects in human body.
“Investigate corner in FCL” Can be used microscope and virtual animations
about bacteria and they multiplication
Possibility 2
Wait and try to clean water (example – with tissue)
Biology – Nothing would change as Bacteria could survive in physical
environment and are to small to clean them with tissue.
Possibility 3
Something else!!!!!!
Physics: Teaching about light reflection
Teaching about energy
Teaching about water phase change
Evaluation: Open problem situation
Taught about above topics students can think to schedule and create a possible
solution
Technology: Help students to design – create from simply material – think
about process

Scientix 7th SPWatFCL Brussels 19-21 June 2015: Help me please, I am thirsty!

  • 1. Help me --- Please --- I am thirsty Group 3 Makris Nikolaos - Science in Primary Education Ester Micό Amigo-Technology in High School Toza Silvia - Physics Suba Gabriela –Physics Mariada Muciaccia – Science (Chemistry, Biology and Earth Science) in High School
  • 4. Class 11 years – 15 years old Working groups of 4 member each Time: Project 1 month Objectives Students will learn: To create a video The phenomenon of transpiration To understand the role of bacteria in human body and the pathogenic results The phenomenon of reflection The phenomenon of water change phases The technological methodologies of design – create from material – process
  • 6. A group of 4 people after an accident they had with their van they decided to walk in the desert to find their way to the nearest village…. Staring with drama ……………… After time walking in the hot sand in the middle of the dessert they had drink all the water they already had and feeling exhausted start to become thirsty as well…… …… and they feel more and more thirsty.
  • 7. After some hours they find an oasis
  • 8. Each team create a video about the situation in “Create Corner in FCL”
  • 9. The sweating of each body and the transpiration is very high .... Biology – Teach the phenomenon of transpiration and the effects in the body
  • 10. In their back packs they have a pizza box, tissues, aluminum foils, scissors, metal bottles, tapes, pen, paper, mirror, sponge, flashlight The group in desert have to decide what could be done to find a solution A questionnaire given to student’s teams asking for possible actions A. Drink water immediately. B. Wait and try to clean the water. C. Anything else you can imagine or create.
  • 11. The answers are pointing in the “Present Corner” of FCL

  • 13. Possibility 1 Drinking water immediately Biology – Teaching about bacteria and the pathological effects in human body.
  • 14. “Investigate corner in FCL” Can be used microscope and virtual animations about bacteria and they multiplication
  • 15. Possibility 2 Wait and try to clean water (example – with tissue) Biology – Nothing would change as Bacteria could survive in physical environment and are to small to clean them with tissue.
  • 16. Possibility 3 Something else!!!!!! Physics: Teaching about light reflection Teaching about energy Teaching about water phase change
  • 17. Evaluation: Open problem situation Taught about above topics students can think to schedule and create a possible solution Technology: Help students to design – create from simply material – think about process
