Broken Heart Syndrome
The vast majority
of cases are
women.
Clinical term is
“Stress Cardiomyopathy.”
Occurs suddenly
after severe
stress.
Unlike with heart attacks,
patients usually make a
full recovery with no
permanent damage to the
muscle.
Occurs suddenly after
extreme stress.
Has very similar symptoms
to a heart attack: chest
pain, shortness of breath,
congestive heart failure,
and low blood pressure.
