Overview of Workshop by A Better Force
Conversations about race are inherently uncomfortable. While it is easy to support anti-racism at the abstract level, even staunch allies struggle with defensiveness when it comes to confronting their own privilege. To truly move the needle on systematic racism, we need to recognize that true allyship isn’t easy and takes time, energy and resources. In this interactive session, we will learn how to leverage our own privilege and commit to taking allyship action through a step-by-step plan.
2. Workshop Overview:
Learn how to be a true ally
by understanding systemic
inequalities through the
lens of racism, challenging
your own bias, and learning
how to work towards a
more equitable future.
BEYOND PERFORMATIVITY
How to be an effective anti-racist ally
3. WHAT MAKES THIS WORKSHOP SPECIAL?
Actionable Items
Impact > Intent
We explain the difference
between performative vs.
true allyship by showing
attendees how the results
of their actions matter more
than their intent or feelings
Use of Statistics
We use statistics and real-
world examples to explain
the magnitude of systemic
racism and how it affects
BIPOC in every sphere of
their life
Attendees will develop a
toolbox of phrases and
concrete actions they can
take to advocate for and
amplify the voices of their
BIPOC peers
4. WHAT MAKES THIS WORKSHOP SPECIAL?
The creators and facilitators of the workshop are two immigrant women of color in the US,
who use both their education and lived experiences to craft the workshop.
