What is COVID-19?

 Signs & symptoms:
 flu like symptoms like cold, fever
 May progress to severe viral pneumonia mostly
in 2nd or 3rd week of symptomatic infection.
 Treatment : no specific treatment
 Prevention :

 COVAXIN
 COVISHIELD
 Both are effective against severe form of
disease, but doesn’t protect from getting
COVID infection.
 Recommended population – 18+ years
 Dose 0.5 ml intramuscular injection.
 2 doses at 28- 84 days interval

50.  COVID 19 vaccination
 Recommended for all lactating women
 If COVID positive , vaccination to be deferred for
3 months after recovery.
 Any other disease requiring hospital admission or
ICU , vaccination to be deferred for 4-8weeks.
 If received 1st dose of vaccine & got COVID
infection before 2nd dose , then 2nd dose to be
deferred for 3 months .
