WORK HISTORY:
I am working with Wipro Technologies, in the Wireless Technologies area under Telecom Domain. I am a part of
feature team and my role is to test the feature/functionality added to the SGSN, also do some coding and unit
testing. I have fair understanding of SGSN (real network element) and the interfaces through which it communicates
with other network elements.
2. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
PROJECT NSN-SGSN
CLIENT Nokia Siemens Networks, Finland
DESCRIPTION SGSN (serving GPRS support node) is a real network element in core network through which
packet switched calls takes place from mobile station (MS). Whenever a MS wants to send data to
external world Packet Data Networks (ex. Uploading data, etc.) or it receives data from outside
network; it has to go via SGSN to start the packet data session.
This project includes new feature development and adding new functionality to the existing features
under SGSN. SGSN is the real network element whereas HLR, MS, SGW, PGW, MME, GGSN are
emulated components. For any exchange of message between MS and SGSN, SGSN has to
communicate with at least one of the above mentioned components.
These emulators come into existence when we run TTCN3 test cases and these components get
stopped automatically after execution of case.
The code for new features as well as existing features is developed in TNSDL(Nokia
Proprietary language similar to C). The feature team to which I belong has implemented
successfully following features:
1. PSHO - To test the functionality of S4-SGSN when subscriber is moving to S4-SGSN from MME
during Packet switched Handover.
2. EPS Bearer Mapping – To test the functionality of the SGSN when Bearers are activated. It has
to discard the dedicated bearers coming to S4-SGSN configured as Gn/Gp or S4-SGSN
connected to PGW using Gn from MME during Packet switched Handover or Routing Area
Update scenarios When the Parameter is set to 1.
3. IMS APN - To test the functionality of S4-SGSN when subscriber is moving to S4-SGSN from
MME during Handover or RAU , where DNS Query for SGW fails. Upon this situation, S4-SGSN
should route PDPs over GN Interface towards PGW.
4. Interception Timestamp - To test the functionality of S4-SGSN towards LIG (Lawful
Interception Browser and Lawful Interception Controller) to include the Timestamp value in
micro seconds depending on the parameter configured.
5. Dual Stack S4 - If requested PDP type is allowed by subscription and if the requested PDP
type is IPv4v6, the SGSN sets the PDP type as requested, if the SGW supports PDP type IPv4v6
(SGSN will be have an 'on/off' switch for the feature, i.e. either all nodes support DS, or none).
Otherwise, the SGSN shall set the PDP type to IPv4 or IPv6 where the selection between IPv4
and IPv6 is based on the result of the check.
6. Dual Stack Gn - If the requested PDP type is allowed by subscription and if the requested
PDP type is IPv4v6, the SGSN sets the PDP type as requested, if the GGSN supports PDP type
IPv4v6 (SGSN will be have an 'on/off' switch for the feature, i.e. either all nodes support DS, or
none). Otherwise, the SGSN shall set the PDP type to IPv4 or IPv6 where the selection between
IPv4 and IPv6 is based on the result of the check.
7. MM States - To test the functionality of SGSN when the ready timer expires and there are
active PDP contexts for that subscriber, SGSN sends Release Access Bearers Request message to
the S-GW to release resources allocated for it.
3. ROLE As part of feature team, I was mainly involved in functional testing as well as development for
some functionality when required. For functional testing, I had to login to HIT to get connected
to the SGSN which is the SUT (System under test). I have worked on GPRS emulators as well as
TTCN3 framework and have fair understanding of how it works with SGSN. Also I have done
automation testing as part of feature development with ROBOT Framework. After functional
testing the cases have to be uploaded in Quality Center. While testing, I was responsible for
raising bug in Pronto tool, had to keep track of the pronto and closing the pronto after retesting
it. I did coding for a new feature as well as unit testing. After completion of feature, I demo the
developed feature’s functionality to the customer in Sprint Review meeting via WebEx session. I
have been part of three major releases for SGSN - SG8 CD2 , SG8 CD3 and SG8 CD3.1.
I was the only tester in our project to be involved in for AT & T testing for SG8 CD3 and CD3.1,
after it was delivered to them for upgrading.
Since agile methodology is followed, I am truly agile as I was involved in testing and
development activities.

DESCRIPTION Lawful interception (LI) is obtaining communications network data pursuant to lawful authority
for the purpose of analysis or evidence. Such data generally consist of signalling ornetwork
management information or, in fewer instances, the content of the communications. If the data
are not obtained in real-time, the activity is referred to as access to retained data (RD).
ROLE As a part of LI testing team, I am responsible for test configuration, Test case designing, Test
case execution and evaluation of test results based on IRIs and CCs from various network
elements like MSS, SGSN, MME, S-GW/P-GW, SBC, VMS and LSDP.
TOOLS UTIMACO, WIRESHAK Analyser, SYBORG Interception center, ADMINSY GUI, HAGUI.
