Business Domain
1. BUSINESS DOMAIN
A business domain in object-oriented programming is the set of classes that represent objects in
the business model being implemented. The business domain is distinguishable from the
business model in that the business model is an understanding and explanation of information
and behaviors in the problem domain while the business domain is an implementation of that
model in a specific programming language. Business Domain refers to real-world aspects of your
solution (e.g. Healthcare, Aviation, Finance, Military, Retail, etc). The business domain informs
your requirements and acceptance criteria for the system; it can be suggestive of a very high-
level form of segregation for different areas.
A business domain name is the web address of your business website; it's what you type into
your web browser to reach a website. Instead of entering the address of your physical address,
you enter the domain name to access your business website. A domain name stands in for an IP
address, which is an unwieldy, hard-to-memorize string of digits unique to a website. A business
domain name includes both the portion that's unique to your business and the extension (or
suffix), such as .com, .net or .org. These suffixes are known as top-level domains (TLDs). A
Business Domain is used to categorize and contain a set of business systems that represent those
autonomous units of the business modeled during Business Analysis.
A Business Domain is a tool to allow a Artifact: Business Analysis Model to group business
systems, especially when a model is used to describe high-level business architecture or
organization (such as that produced by Concept: Component Business Modeling). The Business
Domain itself is the expression of a competency of the business whereas the contained Artifact:
Business Systems are the autonomous units of the business operating within that particular
domain. As described in Guideline: Business System Systems communicate using provided and
required Business Services (capabilities of the system) and the introduction of Business Domains
does not complicate this in any way, there is no notion of priviledged communication between
Systems in the same Domain
Business domain is very important as it is our first impression to the visitors. A good domain
name can make a positive and lasting impression, while a bad domain name can send visitors
running. Also, It affects SEO as exact match domains (EMDs) are no longer a necessity,
keywords in your domain name can still help your SEO ranking and It defines your brand. We’ll
talk about this in a minute – your domain name is a branding opportunity! The right domain
name can increase brand recognition.
Domain name registration typically lasts from one to 10 years. Be sure to note the expiration date
and renew the name before then. Any good service provider will start sending notices of pending
expiration months in advance, so pay attention. Exactly what happens after a domain name
expires varies by country. Some include a grace period, but be sure to check before you buy.
With some registries, there is a penalty if you go past the expiry date, and it can get quite
expensive once you get into what is known as the redemption period. If you pass this point, the
domain can be made available on a first-come-first-serve basis, so there is no guarantee that you
will get your domain name back. The bottom line is to keep an eye on your domain expiration
dates and set them to auto-renew if possible.
But as you’re working through the linguistics of your business domain name, always check back
into the goals of your website and business to make sure you’re staying on track. It’s easy to get
2. lost in fun, catchy, to-the-point business domain names and stray too far from a domain name
that actually identifies your business and conveys your business’s goals. But if you want to be
found online, you should make sure that your business domain name makes sense with what your
service and business are.
The site you created on Google My Business is hosted by Google for free. Your website will
carry a name you choose with a "business.site" web address -- for example,
"yourcompanyname.business.site." If you would like a custom domain -- for example,
"yourcompanyname.com" -- you can search for a custom domain name and purchase it from
Google Domains. To purchase a custom domain for your Google My Business website, publish
your site and click "Buy Domain" when prompted (or from the Settings menu in your
account). You can then search for domain names and purchase a domain name. We will
automatically connect your website to your domain name.
First off, you’ll have the added trouble of trying to separate your brand from the brand that has a
similar domain name. It will be an advertising and marketing nightmare. And further, you might
be legally crossing the line if your business’s domain name is too similar to another’s. As you’re
brainstorming for your business domain name, check to make sure you’re not infringing upon
someone else’s copyrights. If your business domain name is considered to be too similar and
easily confused with another business, that business could take you to court for it. And in that
scenario, it’s up to the judge to decide whether the two names could potentially be
misrepresented and confused. These are dangerous waters that you should do your best to avoid
at all costs. So, as you’re coming up with your business domain name, check to make sure it’s
totally unique.
