being?
• Health is defined by the World
Health Organization (WHO) as
the physical, social and mental
well-being of people in a
community and not merely the
absence of disease.
• Good health and well-being is
a Sustainable Development
Goal (SDG) aimed at ensuring
healthy and promote well-
being for all at all ages.
3. Why Get Passionate About Good Health &
Well-being?
• In contact daily with patients with varying health challenges, many of
which could have being avoided by maintaining healthy lifestyles
• Many health challenges can be avoided or alleviated by ensuring healthy
living
• Cultivating preventive measures to curtail risk of health conditions is way
cheaper than seeking therapy interventions.
• A significant number of individuals’ health status can be enhanced with
good health and well-being advocacy

• Reduce Maternal Mortality
• End all preventable deaths under 5 years of age
• Fight communicable disease
• Reduce mortality from Non-communicable diseases and promote mental health
• Prevent and treat substance abuse
• Reduce road injuries and deaths
• Universal access to sexual and reproductive care, family planning and education
• Achieve universal health coverage
• Reduce illnesses and death from hazardous chemicals and pollution
• Implement the WHO framework convention on tobacco control
• Support research, development and universal access to affordable vaccines and medicines
• Increase health financing and support health workforce in developing countries
• Improve early warning systems for global health risks

• I choose to join the fight against communicable diseases, reduce
mortality from non-communicable diseases and promote mental
health.
