2. Existing Product
This is âGTA 4â one of the most popular games in a series of free roaming video-
games created by Rock star. The image above involves an in game police chase
due to the player committing a crime and this is what I want my game to solely
involve. Now I know my game wonât even slightly compare to this game in terms
of graphical development or general gameplay, however no one expects it to be. I
want my game to appeal to those who enjoy a quick and thrilling experience, due
to the length of my game being very short, however I want that short experience
to be a memorable one.
3. Existing Product
This is âGTA 5â one of the most popular, highest grossing games of all time in a series of
video-games created by Rock star. The image above involves an in game police arrest,
these occur randomly between the cops and NPCâs. This is what I want to include in my
game, if your character were to be caught up by the police you would be forced into
the back of the police car and the âGAME OVERâ screen would flash up. However, if you
are able to evade the police, you would receive a âWINâ screen to congratulate you on
your achievement. This would appeal to the audience as the tension inducing thrill of
escaping the police, would excite the players because if they lose concentration for one
moment they will crash or be caught leading to a âGAME OVERâ screen.
4. Existing Product
This is âNeed For Speed: Rivalsâ a racing based video-game created by the developers
at EA. This particular image includes extremely expensive super police cars, involved
in a high speed police pursuit. This gave me the idea to include this factor in my
game, for example if you had been evading the cops for a while the, police cars
chasing you would get better and better until they reach âSUPER CAR QUALITYâ which
would increase the difficulty for the player. This would keep the player on their toes
throughout their experience, as the difficulty would increase tension and therefore
the overall thrill factor.
5. Research Analysis

7. Audience Profile
Category Demographic Content to appeal to this audience
Age Range
15-20 ⢠The content in my game will appeal to a slightly
more mature audience, due to the use of violence
(low resolution violence).
Gender
Both ⢠I want my game to appeal to both genders as to
not leave out a huge percentage of people,
therefore my game will be neither male or female
orientated. By having a mixture of different
genders in my game, everyone will feel included.
Psychographic
Most people
wonât find
offensive
⢠The use of minor pixelated violence shouldnât
offend most people, however Iâm not most
people therefore some may find it offensive, but
those people have their own preference and
thatâs fine by me. Iâll just try and appeal to those
who do like my product; to those who donât mind
minor violence.
Social Status
Everyone ⢠No matter who you are or where you come from,
if you can legally purchase my product I donât care
who you are. The only problem would be age, as
with many products it has a specific age rating of
15 and over.
