2. Evaluation Overview
This evaluation form is designed to assist you in the evaluation of your projects.
When using this form it is good practice to:
• Use appropriate terminology.
• Stay concise and focus on key points.
• Evaluate and analyse your statements.
• Focus on judgements about work rather than telling a story of how it was made.
Please find the grading matrix here to help you assess you are working at the right level.

3. Project Overview
In this section you will outline the aim of the project/task and give an
overview of the activates you undertook to complete it.
4. What was the theme of your project and
what attracted you to it?
• The theme of the project was future where I decided to focus on the
future of cars and loosely on car design.
• I wanted to show people what cars in the past looked like and what
car manufactures want them to look like in the future.
5. What research did you undertake and how
did it help develop your project?
• I started by looking at different country's concept cars. I wanted to
see what different car manufactures wanted their cars to look like
in the future. This got me thinking about how car designers design
their cars and what they take inspiration from when it comes to
cars of the past. This lead on to me comparing and contrasting
how cars looked in the 70s how they look now and how they are
going to look.
6. How did you develop and improve your ideas
throughout the project?
• Generally, once I think about an idea, I see that exact same idea
through. However, I constantly thought through the cars I was using
for the comparisons and as I decided on my first that helped me
narrow down my second selection and the same for my third. I was
always thinking of a link between the three.
7. What was the outcome of the project/task?
• The outcome of my project was a short video showing the audience
how the design of cars and the future of them has changed and how
car manufactures want it to look.
• I would have liked to have filmed more footage of the cars I had
access to than I did for my next project I will plan my time better.
• I thought the genral idea still worked well at the end.
8. Personal Response
This section will explore your thoughts and feelings about the
experience. This will help gain a understand of how your personal
feelings may have impacted the final outcome.
9. How did you feel about the project before
you started?
• I wasn’t as interested in this project as other project as my group
wasn’t very motivated or willing to work as a team. luckily, it
became a solo project after the first couple of weeks. I was
disappointed that we were unable to do client work.
10. What do you think about your project development and
how did it help you to refine your idea?
• From the beginning I had a very clear idea of what I wanted to do. as I
started shooting, I slowly changed and adapted my idea to work
around the footage I had.
11. Did you collaborate on your project or engage
contributors, etc?
• I spoke to a number of my friends about my car choices and whether
they thought they made sense for this type of project. I decided not
to interview anyone for this project as I have already interviewed
someone for a past project and decided to do something different.
12. How did you feel when the project was
completed and why?
• Pleased because this hasn’t been one of my favored projects, I was
looking forward to doing client work
• But I liked my idea, and it was enjoyable choosing the cars for this
project.
13. Evaluating the project
In the previous sections, you have been commenting upon the project development. The
evaluation may include some similar information but it will also include critical comment.
An evaluation must include information about the good and bad points of the project and it
is important to be honest. Finally, you should make a judgment about the effectiveness of
the success of the project
14. What were the good points about the project/task and what did you
learn from them? [try and think of at least 3, more if possible]
• I learnt more about recording audio and filming so the sound and
pictures where clear
• I learnt that it is important to write a script so I would know exactly
what I was going to say
15. What challenges did you face and how did you
respond to them? Try and think of at least 3...
• Covid made it difficult to film what I wanted to film in a different
location I responded by changing to a more audio focused project
• Because I was filming outside, I had to work around the weather I
ended up filming outside and inside just to give me an alternative
• Planning my time to get everything done is a challenge but I tried to
map out my time on a scale to help
16. What were the negative points about the
experience, and what could you have done to
improve them?
• Without covid I would have been doing client work and that would
have been good!
• I thought I had recorded enough footage but after editing I still didn’t
have enough. For my next project I will record or film more.
17. How would you rate the final piece? [think along the lines of
poor, satisfactory, good or excellent...justify your rating]
• Poor - I just didn’t feel comfortable with this project I wanted
my footage to be lighter I wanted to say more I lost enthusiasm for it
towards the end.
18. What is your opinion of your final piece? What
elements do you think are successful and why?
• I am happy with my choice of cars they are a good comparison
between past present and future
• I was happy with the photos of the people and cars I used. They were
successful because they show people what I was talking about.
19. How well did your project apply the characteristics
and conventions of the medium you worked in?
• I didn’t have a clear medium to work in it was a bit of film a bit of
voiceover and documentary I felt like I was applying different
techniques to the whole project.
20. How did your design appeal to your target
audience?
• My target audience are car fans who are interested in the history and
Evalution of different cars the target audience is quite small, and you
have to have good knowledge before you watch my film. If people
knew this beforehand hopefully, they enjoyed the information
21. Analysis
In this section, you will focus on the details of the project and make
sense of what happened in the project. You should demonstrate how
your decisions informed the project development and the success of the
outcome.
22. In what ways was the overall project a
success?
• I had three clear themes
• I provided information for each theme before hand
• People watching would have come away with more information
23. What elements did not go well and why?
• Filming- I took too long to film the content I needed and when I did it
wasn’t what I wanted it to be.
• I wanted to film in a different location but wasn’t able to do so
• I liked my idea at the beginning but not at the end because I wanted
to move on to my FMP
• My shots of the beetle where to dark
24. How did your skills develop during the portfolio? [remember,
skills aren't just technical, remember things like organisation,
time management, communication, etc as well]
• I managed to write my ideas down this time and at the beginning I
visualized what I wanted the project to look like
• My use of audio improved
25. What meaning and messages did you want to
convey and were you successful?
• I wanted to show people how cars have changed design wise I don’t
think I was as successful as I could have been. I could have pointed
out the overall design language
• I also wanted to show the audience the direction cars could be going
in the future whether it is performance related or sustainability.
26. What would you do differently in the future
and why?
• I would have asked Scott if I could have moved groups to be with
people who talked about their ideas more
• My project organization which has improved but still needs work
• I would have shot more footage
27. Action Plan
This section will identify what you would do differently in the future and
identify ways you could develop.
28. If you were making a similar project in the
future, what would you do differently?
• Plan my time more efficiently
• Shoot as much as I can so I have enough to edit
• Chose a subject where I can find easy to access footage
29. How could you develop your skills for future projects? Please
identify the appropriate resources and courses. For example,
webpages, tutorials, books, short courses and qualifications.
• I would look at a tutorial about story boarding editing
30. What personal attributes could you develop to
ensure you are working at a professional level?
• Better time management
• Talk to people about my idea and what they would like to see in my
project so I could make it relevant to my target audience
• I like interviewing people and am good at it so would continue asking
good interview questions
