Link Reclamation
What is link reclamation?
- Finding, fixing, and replacing the broken links
- Also getting links from other publishers
- Best for an already established business with an already established
authority (content development, word of mouth marketing, press
publication, high followers)
- For new businesses, not the most effective technique because of brand
presence. But, is great if they have available assets and has potential to earn
links frequently
Reasons for link loss
● Your link is removed from the linking page
● The linking page no longer exists (404 error)
● The linking page gets (301) redirected
● The linking page is no longer indexed in Google
Link Reclamation process:
1. Internal linking: Finding your 404 page and the internal links pointing in it
(Tools: Screaming frog, Deepcrawl)
2. Broken links: Finding backlinks that are pointing in a 404 page, Checking if
the backlinks in our URL is a 404 error or not
(Tools: Ahrefs)
3. Unlinked mention: Not missing an opportunity to get backlinks when some
website mentions our website.
(ORM Tools like: Google Alert, Brand 24)
4. Optimizing images: description, alt attributes
5. Documents: Adding traffic value by linking your website via document
sharing sites. (Proper use of logos and images)
