1. Title of the script/ film. This
is essential for the reader to
know what the script name is
so that it makes sense when
reading. If you’re reading a
horror script and it has no
title there is no way to name
the film/ tv series
Who the script was written
by and their name. This is
important to show everyone
exactly who’s work they are
reading. The date the script was
started to be written. This is
important because for
example if the script is 10
years old it may no longer be
relevant
Contact email and address of the
script writer. This helps anyone get
in contact with the script writer if
they have any questions and
queries about the script.
2. This first bit of action text in the
script establishes where we are
and what is going on. This also
ensures the set design and
costume design departments to
correctly build and put together
correct pieces.
This scene heading just displays
the last bits of information needed
for the scene. Above it in the
action it displays where we are and
what is happening and here it just
says weather we are outside (EXT.)
or inside (INT.) and the time of day.
I have jumped straight in with two
pieces of dialogue. The dialogue in
the script shows the actors what
lines they should be saying.
Dialogue can also include brackets
to show how a certain line should
be spoken. That is not the case
here however further on in the
script it is used.
Character: Here I have placed the
character that will be speaking in
the centre of the page in all caps.
This makes it clear for all people
involved in the production who is
talking at what point.
I am introducing the genre here
with the mentioning on a serial
killer and cannibal. That then tells
us that this will be a common
theme within.
3. In this part of the script there is no
dialogue as DAISY WHITE is just
moving through her apartment. I
have added new scene headings for
every room she goes into. I have
also included action to describe
what the rooms look like and what
she is doing as she moves through
the room.
There is nothing special going on
here all that is going on is there are
Character sections and dialogue
sections for the two people who are
talking at this moment in time.
Here I have used a scene heading to
make it clear to everyone using the
script where we are and what time
of day it is. This makes it easy for all
parts of production for this film to
know exactly what do do along with
the ACTION
