5.  After completion of M.F.Sc., he started his carrier as a technician in a small
aqua farm near Surat, Gujarat.
 After having worked for three years, he convinced and proved success in
shrimp farming to the local farmers and officials of the Department of
Fisheries, Government of Gujarat by practically demonstrating shrimp
culture.

 His hard and dedicated work has transformed the coastal waste land into
the most viable shrimp farming business providing livelihood to thousands
of people in Surat
 Having seen successful results, Government of Gujarat allotted large extent
of brackish water land close to 5000 ha to the farmers. To sustain the
success he also initiated group farming and educated them the importance
of Good Management Practices (GMP).

7.  Thus, the shrimp farmers came together to form Surat Aqua Farmers’
Association (SAFA), which is today one of the most successful shrimp
farming association in the country.
 Based on his achievements and practical experience, he has won many
prestigious awards and certificates for contribution to aquaculture
development, He was also inducted Member, Subcommittee, Fisheries, 12th
planning commission, Govt. of India.

8.  It was very fortunate for that he got an opportunity to participate in
the most famous game show KAUN BANEGA CROREPATI (KBC) hosted
by Legendary actor Shri Amitabh Bacchan in November, 2010.
 Eventually, he won Rs. 50 lakhs in the show and promoted shrimp
farming to a different level.
 He is one of the key architects in the development of sustainable
shrimp farming in Gujarat for large scale “food and profit”.

9. Start-up of Business
 When he came Gujarat started his business from saving of scholarship.
 First they got 2 small aquaculture ponds near Surat on lease.
 After 3 years of hard-work he able to convince the local farmers of Dandi
village & Department of fisheries in Gujrat to invest in shrimp culture.
 Mayank Aquaculture Private Limited was initiate in 8 July 2005.

 To impart the technical know how the Surat based farmers & then slowly
they have started their own farm in 2006 with 10 ha. And now they have
150 ha. and more.
 Now at this position Mayank Aquaculture Pvt. Ltd. is one of the most
Successful shrimp farming company in Gujarat.

development of shrimp farming industry & to also develop

Vision

22. Summary
 20 years intense experience in the field of shrimp farming.
 Played an important role in the development of sustainable shrimp
farming with more than 4000 ha. area benefiting thousands of rural
people.
 Developed the concept of satellite shrimp farming as Director
Technical, Aqua Alliance, which has brought manifold increase in shrimp
production in Gujarat.
 Developed a trained technical team to impart technical knowhow to
Surat based shrimp farmers.
 This has turned Surat into most successful shrimp producing district in
India.
 Developed more than 200 ha fresh water fish and prawn farming in
Surat, Gujarat.

23. Summary
 Successfully demonstrated a pilot Project on Cage culture in Ukai
Reservoir under DRDA scheme.
 This project has motivated thousands of fishermen to undertake cage
farming as their livelihood.
Worked as the Director, West Coast Frozen Food Pvt. Ltd., the plant is
located in the heart of shrimp farming area with state of the art shrimp
processing facilities benefiting shrimp farmers to realize better value
for their shrimp.
 Played an important role as General Secretary and founder member of
SAFA (Surat Aquaculture Farmers Association) to bring all shrimp
farmer together to carryout sustainable shrimp farming in a co-
operative way.
 This has brought a Blue Revolution in Surat district.
