4. • Stefan Persson, (born October 4, 1947, Stockholm,
Sweden), Swedish business executive who served
as chairman (1998–2020) and CEO (1982–98)
of Hennes & Mauritz AB (H&M) retail clothing
store.
• His father, Erling Persson, who founded a women’s
clothing store, Hennes (“Hers”) in Västerås, Sweden, in
1947.
• The company added a store in Stockholm and soon
became a fixture of fashion in the Swedish market,
eventually extending its reach to other European countries. Men’s clothing was added through
the 1968 acquisition of Swedish hunting-gear retailer Mauritz Widforss, after which
time the firm was commonly known as H&M.

5.  Persson is a founder of the Mentor Foundation, a non-profit organisation that aims to combat
substance abuse among young people.
 He is a supporter of Djurgardens IF and is co-funding
a foundation for the club. Persson enjoys downhill
skiing, tennis and golf.
 He owns properties in London, Paris and Stockholm
and, in 2009, acquired the 21-cottage village of
Linkenholt in Hampshire, England.
 Persson has three children from his first marriage, to
Pamela Collett.
 In 2009, his son, Karl-Johan Persson, took over as president and chief executive of H&M.His
other two children, Tom Persson and Charlotte Soderstrom are also billionaires.
 Persson lives in Stockholm, Sweden, with his second wife, Denise Persson, nee Florman.

6. • Stefan served as the manager of
the company until the year 1998.
• He is also known for holding a
very big and substantial stake in
the Swedish technological company,
Hexagon AB.
• He also owns a largenumber of assets and
properties via his real estate company, known as Ramsbury.
• These properties are spread across Europe which includes Stockholm, Paris,
and London.

7. • Now coming back to H&M, Stefan was responsible for the company becoming a major
success story that it is today.
• Under his rule and smart leadership,
the company has even grown all
across the globe and employs around
94000 employees spread across the
45 nations.
• His pioneering collaborations with
the noted celebrities across the
globe in different domains led to the
further success of the company.
• Stefan Persson had already worked
with world-famous names such as Donatella Versace, Jimmy Choo, Maison
Martin, Karl Lagerfeld, and Stella McCartney, to name a few. And the core of
his fashion company is based on their efforts to bridge the gap between the
retailers and consumers.

dividend share of $809 million.
• According to the Forbes list,
he has a net worth of $19 billion.
• Stefan Persson is Sweden's richest person
by way of global cheap chic fashion
retailer Hennes & Mauritz, of
which he owns 36%.
• Persson stepped down as chairman in May 2020 after 22 years in the role; his son Karl-Johan
succeeded him.
• H&M was founded by Persson's father Erling in 1947.
• Persson's two other children, Charlotte Söderström and Tom Persson, and his sister Lottie
Tham, are also billionaires.
