3. Definition of team
A team comprises a group of people
linked in a common purpose. Teams
are especially appropriate for
conducting tasks.

The set of defined roles and
interrelationships among those roles that
the group or team members define and
accept.
A result of role episodes in which the
expected role is translated and defined into
the enacted role.

Increased flexibility in in skills and abilities.

Team acquaints and establishes

Members start to communicate their
feelings but still view themselves as
individuals rather than part of the team.
They resist control by group leaders and
show hostility.

People feel part of the team and
realize that they can achieve work if
they accept other viewpoints.

The team works in an open and trusting
atmosphere where flexibility is the key
and hierarchy is of little importance.

The team conducts an assessment of the
year and implements a plan for transitioning
roles and recognizing member’s
contributions.

However, teamwork success is not automatic. Teams have
to be established for the right reasons. Team member
selection is very important, as is ensuring that the team
purpose is clear and agreed upon.
