2. MILLENIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS(MDGs)
• In September 2000,the member states of United Nations (about 189
countries)met at New York.in the millennium declaration,
representatives of the member countries made a most passionate
commitment to address the crippling poverty and multiplying misery
that grips many areas of the world.
• The goals in the area of development and reducing poverty is named
as millennium development goals.
• In the MDGs, health had a central focus.

• Although they did not cover all the aspects of the public health, but it
having the 8 goal.
• Member states agreed to follow the strategy of MDGs and
governments set a date of 2015 by which the countries would meet the
following MDGs:-

• To ensure that children universally including both boys and girls will
able to complete a full course of primary education by 2015.

• CRITERIA-to eliminate gender disparity in primary and secondary
education by 2015,and in all levels of education by 2015.

GOAL 4-REDUCED CHILD MORTALITY RATE
• Criteria-to reduced the under five mortality rate by two-third in the
period between 1990 and 2015.
GOAL 5-IMPROVE MATERNAL HEALTH
• Criteria-to reduced the maternal mortality ratio by 75%.

• Criteria-to half by 2015 and have started to reverse the spread of
HIV/AIDS
• To achieve global access to treatment for HIV/AIDS for those who

other major disease by 2015.

• To reduced biodiversity loss and achieve a sustantial reduction in the
rate of loss by 2010.
• To halve the proportion of the universal population without
sustainable access to clean and safe drinking water and basic
sanitation by 2015.
GOAL 8-DEVELOP A GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP FOR DEVELOPMENT
• Criteria-To address the special needs of the least developed countries.
• To provide access to affordable essential drugs in the developing
world-in collaboration with pharmaceutical companies.

GOALS(SDGs)
• Health is linked to most of the non-health goals, reflecting the fact
that health is dependent on economic, social and environmental
determinant.

GOAL 1-END POVERTY IN ALL ITS FORMS EVERYWHERE
• 1.1-Implement nationally, appropriate social protection systems and
measures for all, including floors or problems and by 2030 achieve
substantial coverage of the poor and the vulnerable.

• 2.2-by 2030,end all forms of malnutrition, including achieving by
2025,the internationally agreed targets on stunting and wasting in
children under five years of age and address the nutritional needs of
adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating women and older person.

-By 2030,eliminate gender disparities in education and ensure equal
access to all levels of education and vocational training for the
vulnerable, including persons with disabilities,indigeneous people and
children in vulnerable situations.

gender sensitive and provide safe ,non-violent, inclusive and effective
learning environments for all.
