Management (DPADM) of the Department of Economic and
Social Affairs (DESA) of the United Nations, implements the
United Nations Programme in Public Administration and
Development.

Flagship initiative of DPADM and
GAID: the UN emGKR
The UN emGKR is a global online facility
for knowledge transfer, information
dissemination, partnership and state-of-
the-art research on electronic and mobile
government in Member States.

Objectives of the emGKR
The objectives of the emGKR are to:
1. Provide an Internet based shared
knowledge platform for information
sharing and dissemination on e/m
government;
2. Provide easily accessible e-information
on Member States’ issues of e/m
government development,

3. Map innovative practices of e/m government
development citing best practices and lessons
learnt, especially in the context of South-South
cooperation;
3. Present state-of-the-art research, including
concepts and approaches of electronic and mobile
government aimed at exploring the challenges and
barriers to e/m government;

expertise of e/m government development
practitioners.
