“Development of skills of independent work with the
big volumes of the information and critical thinking”;
• The methodical tasks:
To expand representation about social life of the
country the learning language, its traditions in
education, to familiarize with features of separate
aspects of foreign teenagers’ life, to learn to use
multimedia presentation for registration of results of
the research, to learn to state briefly the ideas in the
oral and written form;

level and as a result leads in the world’s educational services
for foreign citizens. Modernization of system of education in
Russia is called to correct available lacks and to provide
achievement of the world standards”.

7. EDUCATION IN GREAT BRITAIN
Primary school
5-11 years old, then pass the exam «11 plus»
Secondary school
4 types of them: grammar school, secondary modern, technical and
comprehensive school -- 14 - 16 years, pupils take their GCSE
exams (General Certificate of Secondary Education)
High school
16 to 18 years specialize in two or three subjects, then take the exams
General Certificate of Education Advanced level (A-Level)
Post-school education
18-22 There are two different types of post-graduate courses
Universities and different types of assisted colleges, which tend to
provide more work-orientated courses :– 3 years - Bachelor

Elementary school

9. EDUCATION IN RUSSIA
There are many types of school (local free school, private school,college, lyceums, gymnasia)
Primary school
6-7 – 10 years. There they are taught reading, writing and doing sums. They stay a primary
school for 4 years and then they are admitted to a secondary school.
Secondary school
11 - 16 years, Children study a lot of school subjects, such as Mathematics, Literature,
Russian, Chemistry, a foreign language and so on. At 16 they take their final exams and
get a Certificate of general education .
16-18 they can continue their education at school, technical school, professional
college, or go to work. At school they can specialize for two years in two or
three subjects, in which they take the Certificate of general secondary education
Post-school education
18 - 22 Russian higher education refers to study beyond the secondary school level. At the
Universities or Institutes students after 3 years can at the first obtain their Bachelor
degree then they can apply to take The second type of post-graduate courses – the
Master’s degree (MA or MSc), which takes 2 or 3 years.
Postgraduate studies
Internships, doctoral studies, 4-5 years courses of improvement of qualification higher
degree of the Candidate of Sciences takes 4 or 5 years. The highest degree is the
Doctor of Sciences takes two or three years extra.
