During the JHS studies, students decide what to do after high
school. students who intend to go to collegencontinue year ll
and 12 to prepare for college or university entrance
examinations. other students may get a job after year 10 or

University level studies begin with the undergraduate level. To
be admitted, a Senior Secondary Certificate of education is
required. The main stage of University education leads to a
bachelor's degree.

A student who has qualified for a bachelor's degree (Honours)
may proceed to master's degree. This degree may be obtained
after one year (pass degree) or two years (honors degree) of full
time study.A student who has qualified for master's degree may
proceed to study for a doctorate usually Ph.D., Higher doctorate
in Science (DSsc) or Humanities (Dlitt) upon the submision of
published works.

The levels of education in the US are similar to those
in other countries. There are public and private
colleges, schools and universities in the United
States.

• Private colleges and universities are
supported primarily by tuition and private
contributions.
• Students living in the city pay less tuition
because some tax money is used to subsidize
the tuition.
• Non-US residents would pay more, since they
would not be residents of the city or state
where the college and university are located.
