  1. TARGET SOUND: -ib and -id ENGAGING ACTIVITY: Ask the student to play tic-tac-toe with you.
  2. Phonetic Buildup Introduce the target sound of the day and teach how to produce the -ib sound. Emphasize how the sound is produced. It’s important to distinguish between the letter and the sound (-ib). bib rib rib nib

  4. Letter sound recognition drill and writing drill Tell the student that you’re going to practice writing words with –ib sounds. Words: bib, crib, rib, nib

  6. Letter Sound Recognition Check and Writing Check Identify each picture one by one then ask if it ends in ib/id Ask the student to write -ib or –id on the space provided. Answer key: 1st row: nib, lid, rib, grid 2nd row: kid, bib, crib, squid
  7. Literature Appreciation The student is not expected to read the words on his own. The teacher will read first and then guide the student. Quick comprehension check: Point at each picture and ask the student to identify the pictures (kid, crib, squid, bib) Additional Comprehension Questions (for high beginners): 1. Where is the kid? - The kid is in his crib. 2. What does he play with? - He plays with a toy squid. 3. Does he have a bib? - He has no bib.
  8. Sound recognition review Name each picture out loud and match it with the correct final sound. -id: lid, kid, squid -ib: bib, crib, rib
  9. Word Search: Circle the words that match the picture. lid kid rib bib
  10. Read the words. Color the stars. Use yellow for words that end in –ib and green for words that end in –id. Yellow: nib, crib, bib Green: grid, squid, lid
