BY ROMZAN
2. MICROSOFT WORD
MicrosoftWord is the most popular word processing program and is a processing software
that allows users to create and edit text documents. I had used this for most of the work that
was set in media studies. I have a lot of experience using Microsoft word as I have used this
software all my life for everyday things such as for homework and to saving important
documents on it etc.
3. MICROSOFT POWERPOINT
Just like MicrosoftWord this too was made by Microsoft and was launched as part of
the Microsoft office suit. PowerPoint uses a graphical approach to presentations in the
form of slide shows. Just like word I have quite a basic knowledge of PowerPoint but as
time passed I have learned a few things along the way such as fading in images on the
background of PowerPoint, as demonstrated here.
4. MICROSOFT EXCEL
Excel is an Electronic Spreadsheet Program. An electronic spreadsheet is a computer
software program that is used for storing, organizing and manipulating data.
Electronic spreadsheet programs were originally based on paper spreadsheets used
for accounting. As such, the basic layout of computerized spreadsheets is the same
as the paper ones. I have used excel a few times in media studies for my call sheet
and production schedule but I have a quite basic knowledge on it as all I can do on
excel is put information into boxes but I have learned how to move information
around boxes and also how to use the boxe on the top (fx box) to add in info as well.
5. TIKI-TOKI
Tiki-Toki is web-based software for creating beautiful interactive
timelines that you can share on the internet. I have used this for
creating a timeline on the history of thriller films which you can find in
the research page. When I first used this web based site it was really
hard at first as there was many buttons which I didn’t get but as time
passed I got the hang of it and didn’t need any help using it.
6. ADOBE PREMIER PRO
Adobe Premiere Pro is a timeline-based video editing software application. It is part of the Adobe
Creative Cloud, which includes video editing, graphic design, and web development programs.
Using this software wasn't that hard as I had quiet a basic competency level using this. I had used
this software in the last 2 tasks but in the last 2 tasks I didn’t know how to use the effects but when
working on this topic of thriller the people in my group knew how to use it such as Denzel which I
had learned from him and now I think that next time I could use these effects when working on
this software.
7. SURVEY MONKEY
Survey Monkey is an online survey development cloud-based software as a service company.
Survey Monkey provides free, customizable surveys, as well as a suite of paid back-end
programs that include data analysis, sample selection, bias elimination, and data representation
tools. I had used this only once and have a basic competency level. I had used this for putting my
questions into the survey monkey website for my questionnaire. It was quite easy as soon as I
signed in I put my questions into some boxes which was really easy to do and I also think that out
of every websites and software's this was the easiest site to use.
8. YOUTUBE
YouTube is an American video-sharing website. I had used this for searching
videos on video trailers for inspiration and also used it for searching for songs
for my film. I have a very good competency level when usingYouTube as I use
it at home when I'm out and about and have used it all my life. In my opinion I
thinkYouTube is better than Google when searching for problems such as how
to use effects on adobe premier pro as you can visualize what you see on
videos whereas on Google you have to read texts to find out your solutions and
YouTube is a quick and better way of finding solutions to your problem.
9. WEEBLY
Weebly is a web-hosting service featuring a drag-and-drop website builder. I have
a good competency level in using the website weebly. I have used weebly in this
subject of media studies for the first time and as I used it in the start of the subject
It was only a bit difficult but by the next few lessons on using this I got the hang of
it and as well I used this same website in another subject I study which is Creative
audio to log all the things we have done in our topics. So I started to become a pro
when using this as all the functions of this site was easy to understand and use.
10. GLOGSTER
Glogster is a cloud-based platform for presentation and interactive learning. It allows
users to mix all kinds of media on a virtual canvas to create multimedia posters, and
access a library of engaging educational content created by students and educators
worldwide. My competency level of this is quite good as I have used it once for making
character profiles for my evaluation question 4 and after I used this it was like I was a
pro as it was just like weebly all the functions was really easy to use.
11. IMOVIE
iMovie is a video editing software where you can import video and photo files from a hard drive. From there, the user can
edit the photos and video clips and add titles, themes, music, and effects, including basic color correction and video
enhancement tools and transitions such as fades and slides. I have quite a basic level of competency level using iMovie as
me and my group has used this for our animatic. It was the first time I had used this software but it was fairly easy to use as
you create the title you want then you add your screenshots of your storyboard and then you add your music you have
chosen. I have learnt how to use this software and to drag and drop pictures and songs to make a slideshow of pictures with
added music.
12. CAMERA’S

The Macintosh; was branded as Mac since 1997) and is a series of personal computers (PCs)
designed, developed, and marketed by Apple Inc. Steve Jobs introduced the original
Macintosh computer on January 24, 1984. When I first attended this school Morpeth this
was the first time I had used the apple macs as I have always used and have a windows pc.
It was quiet difficult using it as it was very complicated but as 5 months passed since I
