2. In the most general sense, the term space pollution includes
both the natural micrometeoroid and man-made
orbital debris components of the space environment; however,
as "pollution" is generally considered to indicate a despoiling of
the natural environment, space pollution here refers to only
man-made orbital debris.
What is Space Pollution ?

4. Some space junk results from collisions or anti-satellite tests in orbit.
When two satellites collide, they can smash apart into thousands of
new pieces, creating lots of new debris. This is rare, but several
countries including the USA, China and India have used missiles to
practice blowing up their own satellites.
What are the causes of Space
Pollution ?
5. Space junk can impact other objects at over 22,300 mph, faster than
a speeding bullet. Collisions with those tiny pieces often leave pits
and dings in the many satellites, telescopes, and other objects
orbiting our planet.
What are the effects of Space
Pollution ?
6. Two main approaches could theoretically be employed to reduce the
long-term creation of debris from collisions. These are (1) to decrease
the number of collisions by employing collision avoidance techniques
or (2) to remove objects capable of causing collisions away from
crowded orbital regions.
How can we prevent Space
Pollution ?
7. As of 2020, there have been 15 astronaut and 4 cosmonaut fatalities
during spaceflight. Astronauts have also died while training for
space missions, such as the Apollo 1 launch pad fire which killed an
entire crew of three. There have also been some non-astronaut
fatalities during spaceflight-related activities. As of 2020, there have
been 30 fatalities in incidents regarding spaceflight.
Are there any dead bodies in
Space ?
15. Space debris , also known as orbital debris , space junk and space waste ,
is the collection of defunct objects in orbit around earth.
This includes everything from spent rocket stages , old satellites ,
fragments from disintegration , erosion and collision.

21. “There are so many problems to solve on this planet first
before we begin to trash other worlds.” “There are places
where litter is acceptable and others where it is not. You could
say it is the atmosphere: that abandoned satellites
and debris should be cremated, ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
