Welcome to the May 2008
edition of the Sigtec
newsletter.
For the first time we now
include content and
contributions from all four
operating divisions
namely; Public Transport,
Commercial Transport,
Taxi Solutions and Critical
Communications. Like
you, I look forward to
reading of our collective
triumphs as we move
forward into 2008.
Message from the Managing Director
Marketing
Marketing is slowly
beginning to flow across
the company.
Our first banner was
produced by the Critical
Communications division
in Brisbane for the APCO
trade show. Since then
we have done a corporate
banner and two Taxi
banners and have just
completed a Commercial
Transport banner. A
Banner for Public
Transport is under
development.
We are now working on
brochures for the
Divisions and we hope to
launch our corporate
website in the near future.
Over the next few years,
Sigtec will deliver a range
of new programs and
services to the domestic
and global market place.
The recent announcement
of Sigtec becoming the
first certified IAP Service
Provider in Australia is the
first tangible example of
how we intend to change
the way we deliver our
services.
Sigtec caps have been
produced and distributed
to our Melbourne, Sydney,
Auckland and Brisbane
offices. We hope you are
all wearing them and
getting the name out
there.
The UK boys have been
given a Sigtec cap by
John Thompson and Theo
Papacharalambous who
were traveling in the UK
during April and they have
very kindly sent through a
picture for us…
This will require us to
focus more on
improvements to our
systems and
infrastructure, to support
our status as a premier
ITS solutions and
managed service
company.

The Critical
Communications
Division successfully
launched the new
Sigtec brand in to the
Public Safety market as
a Gold Sponsor of the
Association of Public
Safety Communications
Officials (APCO) Annual
Australia-New Zealand
Conference at the Gold
Coast on 18-20th
February. See below
photo and
www.apcoaust.com.au
The new branding and
image was very well
received by existing
customers and new
prospects.
The local venue
enabled the Division to
visit the conference and
witness first hand how
we are positioned within
h
Critical Communications Division
marketplace and gain an
understanding of
competitor solutions.
The Critical
Communications Division
has further strengthened
its position in the
emerging School Zone
Safety market having
been awarded a sole
supply contract for the
next stage of the NSW
School Zone Alerting
System. This is a great
success for the division
with approximately $2M in
revenue expected this
calendar year and placing
us in a great position to
succeed in the pending
open tender worth $10+
later this year.
Brett Abraham presented
to the Australian Rail
Association Rail Level
Crossing Safety
Workshop on 25th
February.
The relationship with
Telstra Managed Services
continues to grow and
offer large opportunities
for the Division including
VLine, RailCorp, RACV,
NRMA and QLD Police.
The Division is intensely
focused on delivery of
three major current
projects:
• ARTC Freight Train
Communications;
• NSW School Zone
Alerting System; and
• Ambulance New
Zealand

Last month, Melbourne
received some much
needed rain. In the same
way the Taxi Division
surged ahead with its best
month for orders,
exceeding $4 million.
Our customer Bluebird in
Indonesia is commencing
a major fleet upgrade to
Mercedes Benz vehicles.
To match its new premium
fleet we positioned a low
cost colour terminal with
integrated software taxi
meter too them and have
secured an order for 1000
units to be delivered in
August this year.

Well done to Theo for his
work in this area. The
opportunity will grow to a
further 2000 units over the
next 2 years which is good
business in anyone’s
terms!
We also managed to
secure an order from RSL
Taxis in Sydney for 170
vehicles. This is
particularly pleasing given
RSL were a bureau
member of Legion who as
you will all remember has
opted to leave us for
MTData. This will provide
us with our first local site
for MDX products.
Adding to the good news,
we were advised by the
Dubai office that the RTA
has provided a letter of
intent to purchase an
additional 760 MDX units
and a substantial quantity
of spares. David in Dubai
is to be congratulated on
working this order through
the customer.
John Thompson has just
returned from visits to our
UK customers where we
have been negotiating
new support and
maintenance agreements.

Public Transport Division
The Public Transport
Division is currently fully
occupied developing,
testing or delivering
customer projects such as
Melbourne SmartBus
Route 901, Auckland
Busway and RAPID Lodz
(Poland).
We have are also initiated
an in-house porting
project of our embedded
code to support our new
hardware, the RAPID
Control Unit which has
been jointly developed
with NEC.
We have recently received
an order from our NZ
customer ARTA to
implement SIRI (an EU
standard for real-time
passenger information)
interface to the RAPID
system and we are
currently undergoing final
negotiations for a server
infrastructure upgrade
which will include
technology refresh as well
as a new build and
deployment environment.
We have also currently
15+ functional variations
(most of them defined by
us) that ARTA want us to
quote on, ranging from
minor functional
enhancements to a
completely new LCD
based sign type.
An Order has been
received for additional
Driver Display Consoles
(DDC's) to be fitted to the
Northern Busway fleet
along with a request for a
quote to fit 900 buses in
Auckland with DDC's.
We have also received
several variations in
Melbourne and are
expecting further
variations including an
order of a new route (the
Red Orbital).
The Division has been
short listed for a RTPI
system for Sydney ferries
and have been requested
to provide RTT prior to the
28/5. (contract award is
expected at the end of
July 2008).
The requirements for this
system is very close to
Melbourne but do also
include some very exciting
additional components
such as multimedia
support and passenger
counting systems.
Our support teams are
doing a great job (at
times, during very difficult
circumstances) by
providing our customers
with an integrated
managed service. These
teams have been under
the hammer lately, as
there have been
significant functional
enhancements introduced
to systems that they
maintain, which I am sure
has caused the stress
level of our SA's, Service
Technicians and Regional
Service Mangers to
increase a little.
Finally, an install team is
preparing to depart for
Poland at the end of May
to install RAPID in Lodz,
Poland’s second largest
city.
What
Cities
without
RAPID
face…
