Volkswagen Group (Germany): ŠKODAAUTO invests 32 million euros in ENYAQ iV
production line at its Mladá Boleslav plant
ŠKODAAUTO has now completed the conversion of an existing production line at its main
factory in Mladá Boleslav for MEB vehicles, which has been in progress since last summer.
This work included structural changes to the building as well as modifications to the
conveyor technology and final assembly line. Investments made amount to 32 million euros.
It is now the only line in the entire Volkswagen Group on which vehicles based on the MEB
modular electric car platform and the MQB modular transverse matrix can be built alongside
one another. This means that the all-electric ŠKODA ENYAQ iV1, the OCTAVIA2 and the
KAROQ3 compact SUV all roll off the same production line at the Mladá Boleslav plant.
Preparations for the production line to build the first ŠKODA based on the MEB electric car
platform began last summer. Since then, some structural elements of the building as well as
technologies for transporting parts, for example, have been modified to cater for the weight
of all-electric vehicles and their assembled components. Furthermore, the final floor
assembly is automated following the conversion, and now includes the high-voltage traction
battery too. ŠKODA AUTO has installed auxiliary robots for handling the heavy battery
packs. The Czech car manufacturer also set up a larger workstation to adjust the head-up
displays. ŠKODA AUTO placed a special focus on safety during the conversion of the
production line, especially in terms of battery handling. The company has made
comprehensive fire-proofing provisions and installed thermal imaging cameras, for example.
These monitor the temperature in the factory hall around the clock and trigger an alarm if
they detect any abnormalities.

ŠKODAAUTO Board Member for Production and Logistics, stressed, “The conversion
of the ŠKODA ENYAQ iV production line in Mladá Boleslav, which was completed on
schedule, allows us to manufacture vehicles based on the MEB and MQB platforms in
parallel. This is a unique concept across the entire group. It enables us to produce
between 250 and 350 units of the ENYAQ iV per day at our main factory with total
flexibility. This means we can react to the respective market demand without delay
whilst ensuring that the line runs at full capacity at all times. Production of the new
flagship of our model range is set to start this year still.”

Toyota (Japan) Research Institute - Advanced Development to Form Woven Capital, an
$800 Million Global Investment Fund
Toyota Research Institute - Advanced Development, Inc. (TRI-AD)
announced that it will create Woven Capital, L.P. (Woven Capital), an $800
Million global growth-stage investment fund, to enhance the ability to
achieve its vision of "Mobility to Love, Safety to Live." On July 28, 2020,
TRI-AD announced that it will expand and strengthen its operations by
forming a new holding company called Woven Planet Holdings, Inc.
(Woven Planet), which will begin operations in January 2021. Woven
Capital will be part of the new Woven Planet Holdings Group, and it will
support the group by investing in growth-stage companies that are
developing innovative technologies and business models in areas such as
autonomous mobility, automation, artificial intelligence, machine learning,
data and analytics, connectivity, and smart cities. In addition to sourcing
deals from Toyota AI Ventures, Toyota's early-stage venture capital fund,
Woven Capital will also invest in other venture capital funds in order to
broaden and accelerate its global coverage.

Solution Description
The technology company Continental has developed a high-performance and reliable On-Board Weighing System (OBWS) that records and displays the weight of
commercial vehicles, including trailers and semitrailers. Quick, easy, and independent from a stationary scale – before starting a trip. Further functions make it possible
to increase efficiency far beyond the specifications of EU Directive 2015/719, which will go into effect in May 2021. The directive requires EU Member States to
measure the gross vehicle weight of commercial vehicles more frequently. In order to plan accordingly and prevent sanctions, drivers and fleet operators must already
know the load condition of a vehicle before starting a trip. So far, this has been almost impossible and poses particular challenges for vehicles for which the semitrailer
is usually provided by the forwarder. In order to meet the new requirements, most EU countries are currently relying primarily on a comprehensive, stationary solution.
However, the On Board Weighing System offers added value that goes beyond the regulatory stipulations. “Even if the load is measured by sensors in the road in the
future, the integrated solution will remain interesting for forwarding agents, fleet managers and drivers,” says Marc Leinemann, who is a technical project manager at
Continental and involved in the development of the On Board Weighing System. Even before a truck drives off, fleet operators and drivers can check whether the weight
of the vehicle is within a safe range. Systems that determine the vehicle weight only after the start of the trip do not offer this advantage. If the weight can be determined
before a trip, vehicles can be loaded more efficiently and safely as well. This reduces empty runs. The data provided also makes preventive maintenance possible. In
addition, it can serve as a basis for new business models, for example with load-dependent transport tariffs.

Continental, technology company and manufacturer of premium tires, has just launched a microsite containing useful information about the latest CO2 emissions
regulation for heavy goods vehicles and the simulation tool for trucks called VECTO – short for Vehicle Energy Consumption Calculation Tool. To combat climate
change in line with the Paris Agreement, the first carbon dioxide emissions regulations for new heavy-duty vehicles (HDV) were introduced by the European
Commission in 2019 (EU Regulation 2019/1242). These will mean cutting average CO2 emissions from new HDVs by 15 percent by 2025 and 30 percent by 2030
compared to the reference year July 2019 to June 2020. This regulation currently applies to 4x2 and 6x2 trucks with a gross vehicle weight over 16 metric tons, while a
future extension of the regulation is under consideration by the European Commission. To ensure the ambitious reduction targets are met, the Commission launched the
VECTO simulation tool. On its new website about the tool, Continental aims to provide fleet managers with comprehensive information about the new regulation and its
implications for them, given that tires significantly influence fuel consumption and by that the CO2 emissions generated by a vehicle.

that can carry a large amount of hydrogen, portable external power output devices and portable batteries, and will begin demonstration testing of the system’s ability to
deliver electricity anytime and anywhere. When a power grid is damaged during a disaster such as typhoons and rainstorms, people suffer from an interruption in the
supply of power to their homes and evacuation centers. To address this issue, Toyota and Honda will bring technologies together to create a mobile power
generation/output system and conduct demonstration testing of delivering electricity to people. Taking advantage of its mobility, the Moving e can be utilized as a
“phase-free*” system which can be used in times of a disaster to support disaster response by supplying electricity in an affected area, as well as in normal times for
routine uses such as supplying power at an event. Through this demonstration testing, the two companies will confirm the actual needs of people and verify usability of
the system.

developed by engineers and designers from the Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Center (HMETC) using affordable and easily available materials. Intended to
promote quality time for customers, families and friends, Hyundai has made the instructions available to download so the vehicle can be built at home. With
schools still closed in parts of Europe, and families spending more time together, Hyundai recognised the importance of spending quality time with one’s family
and wanted to come up with a project that would be fun for parents and children alike. As a mobility provider, this naturally involved something related to cars –
and thus the idea of the Hyundai Soapbox was born. The Hyundai Soapbox is a motor-less vehicle designed by Hyundai experts that is nonetheless fairly easy to
build. Designers and engineers at HMETC conceived the model in the company’s workshop and built a prototype to ensure the feasibility of the design. In order
to keep it accessible, the HMETC team was careful to only use materials which were readily available at an average hardware store. They also paid attention to the
total cost of materials to make sure the design stayed affordable. According to the responsible team, it was an interesting project for the Hyundai engineers and
designers. It gave them a chance to be creative on a different type of development than usual.

high flexibility and low transmission loss in the millimeter-wave band, aiming at communications for 5G and beyond. In wireless communication, 5G mobile
communication has started to be used on a commercial basis. Currently, the sub-6 band (such as 3.5 and 4.7 GHz) is being used for 5G communication in various
parts of the world. To increase the transmission speed, it is expected that the frequency used will be increased to the millimeter-wave band (such as 26 GHz and
28 GHz). Furthermore, even higher frequencies in the millimeter-wave band will be used on a full scale, with the launch of 6G mobile communication and the
practical use of radars and sensors in mind. Against this backdrop, Sumitomo Electric has achieved mass production of flexible fluororesin-based FPCs, which are
characterized by a low transmission loss in the millimeter-wave band. Fluororesins are characterized by low permittivity and dielectric dissipation factor compared
to those of liquid crystal polymers (LCPs), which have started to be used for high-frequency circuits, thereby making it possible to further reduce the transmission
loss (approximately 40% in the 40 GHz band). The higher the frequency, the more markedly the characteristics are demonstrated. Due to these characteristics,
fluororesins have attracted much attention as circuit materials with excellent characteristics in the high-frequency band.

The team General Motors and Ventec Life Systems assembled to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic delivered its 30,000th V+Pro critical care ventilator to the
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services yesterday, the companies announced. At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, GM and Ventec collaborated to
rapidly scale up production of critical care ventilators. In one month, the teams went from an introductory phone call to delivering life-saving technology to
frontline medical heroes. The full federal order was completed in just 154 days, with one ventilator completed about every seven minutes. With shipment, GM has
formally turned over operational control of the company's Kokomo ventilator manufacturing operation to Ventec. Ventec will produce VOCSN multi-function
critical care ventilators in Kokomo, as well as in Bothell, Washington in response to ongoing demand during the pandemic. Ventec's monthly ventilator production
increased 80 times during the pandemic. The unique collaboration between Ventec and GM to build V+Pro critical care ventilators began with conference calls
initiated by stopthespread.org on March 17 and 18. The first units were delivered to Franciscan Health Olympia Fields in Olympia Fields, Illinois and Weiss
Memorial Hospital in Chicago. A third shipment was delivered by UPS to the Gary/Chicago International Airport on April 18 for distribution to other locations

supply chain seamlessly electronically traceable – from cultivation in Indonesia and further processing through to tire production. Continental is collaborating with
the German development cooperation specifically in the Indonesian province of West Kalimantan in Borneo. The Kapuas Hulu district has two national parks with
extensive natural forests, designated a UNESCO biosphere reserve. The project partners document all steps in the supply chain with a digital traceability system.
The 450 small farmers involved so far achieve significantly higher sales prices than usual for the high-quality natural rubber they produce. This is due to the fact
that they are trained in sustainable cultivation and with better technology, such as how the trees need to be cut in order to obtain as much rubber as possible. The
small farmers thus significantly increase their surface yields and can use the trees for longer. The digital traceability system allows the production and supply chain
of the rubber to be evaluated in detail. The production areas mapped by GPS, the raw rubber deliveries and sales prices achieved are documented in the system
directly on delivery in the warehouse. In addition, the system checks the raw rubber quantity delivered with regard to the production area. If the delivered quantity
exceeds the expected production volume, the system indicates this. In this way, employees can prevent rubber from entering the supply chain from non-registered
areas, e.g. illegally deforested areas.

collaborate on a variety of segments in North America, intending to share common vehicle platforms, including both electrified and internal combustion

through Nikola's programs, including Nikola Badger, Nikola Tre, Nikola One, Nikola Two and NZT. As part of the agreement, Nikola will utilize
General Motors' Ultium battery system and Hydrotec fuel cell technology, representing a key commercialization milestone for General Motors.
Nikola will exchange $2 billion in newly issued common stock for the in-kind services and access to General Motors' global safety-tested and
validated parts and components. General Motors will be subject to a staged lock-up provision beginning in one year and ending in June 2025.

Hyundai Motor Group and SK Innovation Co. have agreed to cooperate in the development of a sustainable ecosystem for electric vehicle (EV) batteries that are
key to the future mobility industry. The two parties announced today their plan to cooperate in diverse business areas related to the EV battery industry, including
battery sales solutions, battery management service and battery reuse and recycling. The collaboration stems from the companies’ shared need to create a battery
value chain and strengthen eco-friendliness in business operations covering the entire lifecycle of EV batteries. Unlike existing cooperation schemes between
mobility companies and battery companies that tended to center on battery supply, the Hyundai-SK cooperation aims for a virtuous cycle of battery usage known
as the Battery as a Service (BaaS), which includes lease or rental service. As a result, the cooperation is expected to catalyse the spread of diverse cooperation
systems between mobility and battery companies. Through this partnership, the two parties aim to strengthen the stability of the battery supply chain and create a
virtuous cycle of resources from recycling to production; reduce carbon emissions; encourage optimal design that connects EVs and battery reuse, and create
synergies by maximizing added value through the optimal design of batteries. To enable cooperation, both sides are focusing on the initial process of collecting

Magna has signed an agreement to acquire majority ownership of Honglizhixin (HLZX), a leading seat supplier to Chinese automakers. The acquisition will
expand Magna’s seating capabilities across China. At the same time Magna will acquire a majority stake in its existing seating joint venture with HLZX. The
two companies currently operate a 50/50 joint venture formed in 2015. Magna’s strong relationship with HLZX over the years has enabled agreements to
deepen the partnership. Magna has signed a Shareholder Agreement and Share Purchase Agreement and intends to finalize the deals by the beginning of
2021, signaling a strong commitment to the China market. The current Magna-HLZX JV includes two manufacturing plants. Under the new ownership
agreement, 10 plants will be added to Magna’s manufacturing footprint, adding critical mass and scale to the company’s seating operations in China. The
majority of HLZX’s plants are also vertically integrated with just-in-time seat assembly and delivery, structures, foam, and trim capabilities that enable an
optimal sourcing solution for automakers versus sourcing from multiple suppliers. Magna’s seating business, recognized by automakers and consumers for
its innovation and quality, includes six R&D centers and 66 manufacturing operations around the globe.

The Volkswagen Group is extending cooperation with its independent Sustainability Council for a further two years. Volkswagen is thus continuing to
vigorously pursue its sustainability targets with the focus on becoming carbon neutral by 2050. The international Volkswagen Sustainability Council was set
up in 2016 to support the Group with regard to strategic issues relating to sustainability and social responsibility. The body, which now comprises nine
members, acts independently and contributes to the decision-making process with extensive rights for the purposes of exchanging information, consultation
and initiating actions. One item on the agenda of the intensified dialog between Volkswagen and the Sustainability Council is the CEO Alliance for Reform,
Resilience and Recovery (R3) jointly launched by Herbert Diess and the Council; R3 provides support for the EU Green Deal, aspects of corporate
governance and integrity, employment in times of progressive digitalization and e-mobility, as well as sustainable actions in international markets. In
addition, the Volkswagen Sustainability Council initiated several projects in recent years also open to stakeholders and the public. These include a research
project on climate-aware transport policy with partners such as the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), and a long-term study with
Fraunhofer IAO on the effects of digitalization and e-mobility on employment.

The Volkswagen Group is ensuring greater transparency and responsibility in its raw material supply chains for batteries. To that end, the company has
entered a strategic partnership with RCS Global, an agency specializing in supply chain analysis. The focus is on auditing suppliers for conformance with
human rights, safe working conditions and environmental protection along the supply chain all the way back to the mines. The Group introduced a
sustainability rating for direct suppliers one year ago, and a comprehensive system developed by RCS Global now also tracks adherence to sustainability
criteria at sub-suppliers, refineries, smelters, mines and recyclers. New guidelines for improvements issued to suppliers make an active contribution to
achieving improvements when risks and shortcomings are identified. Serious audit violations may even lead to the disqualification of suppliers from the
supply chain. That applies, for example, to small-scale mining operators when child labor cannot be ruled out. The approach builds on the Due Diligence
Guidelines of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Under the cooperation with RCS Global it has already been possible
to identify 134 sub-suppliers and 18 mines in the Volkswagen Group’s battery supply chains, and the majority have already been audited. The expanded
partnership has also enabled the development of due diligence measures for each type of relevant raw material by means of a comprehensive management
system, despite the large number of companies in the supply chains.

BYD (China) Starts Operations at its Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery Factory in Brazil

Global clean energy giant BYD recently began operations at its third plant in Brazil, which is also the South American country's very first factory for lithium iron
phosphate batteries, at the Manaus Industrial Zone (PIM). The manufacturing plant, located in the northern state of Amazonas, is dedicated to the production of lithium
iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries, and is primarily focused on installing these onto electric bus chassis. With an initial investment of R$15 million (USD 2.7 million),
the factory, covering 5,000 square meters, will foster the electric mobility market in Brazil and allow for future expansions if necessary. BYD is a pioneer in bringing
fleets of electric buses to Brazil. In addition to being non-polluting, electric buses are significantly more economical, with lower operating costs than conventional diesel
buses. In comparison with diesel, the cost of electricity is equivalent to just 25% of refueling a diesel vehicle. In addition, the reduced number of parts in a 100% electric
vehicle dramatically reduces the need for maintenance, providing greater vehicle availability compared to conventional combustion-powered transport. In Brazil, BYD
opened its first plant in 2015 that produced electric bus chassis, as well as selling electric vehicles and forklifts in Campinas, also located in São Paulo state. In April
2017, it inaugurated its second plant for photovoltaic modules, consolidating itself as one of the leaders of this important market in Brazil. BYD is also responsible for
two SkyRail (monorail) projects in the country: In Salvador, with the cross-sea “VLT do Subúrbio”, and in the city of São Paulo, with the “Line 17 – Gold Line”. In 2020,
BYD opened its third manufacturing plant in the country in Manaus, specifically for lithium iron phosphate batteries. BYD Brazil has 365 employees in the cities of
Campinas, São Paulo, Salvador, Manaus, Vitória, Curitiba and Rio de Janeiro.
