Bangladesh is one of the most
disaster-prone countries in the
world, suffering from regular
floods, cyclones,
earthquakes and drought. It is
estimated that in the past 20
years, 135 million people in
Bangladesh have been
affected by natural disasters,
and while many have lost
their lives or been injured,
millions of others have also
lost their homes, land and
livelihoods
5. FLOOD
Causes of Flood in Bangladesh :
Rainfall
Snow melting in the Himalayas
Hydrologic changes in the Brahmaputra
basin.
Besides, 2.4 billion tons of sediments carries
by the river system of Bangladesh every
year reduces the carrying capacity of the
rivers ,which worsens the flood.
6. CYCLONE
About 20% of the coastal
area of Bangladesh are
vulnerable to Cyclone. In
Bangladesh,12 coastal
districts are highly
vulnerable.
8. EARTHQUAKE
-Trembling or shaking movement of the earth
surface.
-Form of energy of wave motion, which
originates in a limitted region and then
spreads out in all directions from the source
of disturbance
-Bangladesh is extremely vulnerable to
seismic activities.
-Chittagong,Dhaka,Sylhet and Rangpur-
Dinajpur districts are mejor earthquake zone.
9. RIVER BANK EROSION
-Occers both naturally and
through human impacts.
-The river erodes away the led and
bank of its channel vertically and
laterally.
-makes people undone.
-causes a massive financial loss.
10. DROUGHT
-Inadequate rainfall causes Drought.
-North-western region suffers most.
-affects not only the seasonal crops but also
the fruit bearing trees, forestry and the
environment as a whole.
