Professional Summary
Experienced systems engineer in all phases of the successful design, development,
and implementation of product qualification and verification requirements for aircraft
and space systems hardware and software. Experience in Integration and Test (I&T)
developing test software/hardware and providing project management for several
different programs including the International Space Station (ISS), C-17, B-2, & B-1B.
These positions required a working knowledge of RF, digital, and analog flight
hardware design. Strong written and oral communication skills were demonstrated
when preparing and giving presentations to both the customer and program
management.
Clearances
Current DOD secret and SSBI with various special accesses.
Professional Experience
Systems Engineer Lead
Boeing - El Segundo 2003 –
10/2015
• Lead for the Requirements and Verification (R&V) team on a major proprietary
satellite program. Developed the requirement verification plan (RVP), accumulated or
developed all required verification products (analysis, simulations, test results), and
sold off to the customer’s satisfaction. Requirement traces were recorded using the
DOORS database.
• Flowed requirements in DOORS from system to subsystem to unit levels
including verification plan and environments. Required an understanding of
operation and interfaces of system and all subsystems including Communication
payload, ADCNS, and bus platform hardware.
• Led team through all design, test readiness, and gate reviews.
• Helped to generate and maintained program Technical Performance
Measurement (TPM) and Test-Like-You-Fly (TLYF) databases.
• Supported Engineering Review Board (ERB) in maintaining/evaluating
engineering changes and initiating process changes.
• Participated in and led several anomaly resolution teams as part of I&T
including fishbone definition and Root Cause Correction Action (RCCA)
activities.
• Worked with the enterprise qualification review board (QRB) to ensure hardware
was fully qualified to meet design life requirements and reviewed processes to
ensure requirements were robust and met Mil-Std-1540.
2. • Led design verification testing (DVT) for system-level thermal requirements,
gimbal thermal requirements and structural thermal distortion requirements.
• Evaluated statements of work (SOWs), planned integrated master schedule
(IMS) using MS Project, defined and managed program risks, generated basis
of estimates (BOEs) documentation for proposals, and provided earned value
definition/status (EVM).
Test Engineer
Boeing Corp. – Long Beach 2002 –
2003
• Developed test requirements, special test equipment (STE), and software used
in the test and verification of C-17 flight computer.
• Developed scripts to test embedded software. C programming language and
MATLAB were used during the software development.
Project Engineer
Boeing Corp. – Canoga Park 1997 –
2002
• Worked all issues pertaining to delivery of space-rated hardware to customer for
the International Space Station.
• Developed qualification and verification requirements for three ISS units,
oversaw the implementation of these requirements into test software/hardware,
and participated in all phases of qual testing: design verification (DVT),
environments, qual and acceptance test.
• Led Failure Review Boards (FRBs) and resolved hardware/software anomalies
discovered during the verification process to the customers’ satisfaction.
• Created schedules using Project software, prepared presentations for the
customer and program management, interfaced with several different
departments, and directed four engineers in their day-to-day tasks while working
as part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT).
Test Engineer
Northrup – Palmdale (B-2) 1993 –
1997
McDonnell Douglas – Long Beach (C17) 1990 –
1993
Rockwell, Eaton - (B-1B) 1985 –
1990
• Developed test requirements (TRD), special test equipment (STE), and software
used in the test and verification of B-1B, B-2, and C-17 flight hardware.
• Required working knowledge of digital, analog, video, and RF hardware.
• Generated all required test documentation including Verification Cross
Reference Matrices (VCRM) where required.
• Familiar with the interpretation and use of failure mode analysis data (FMECA).
• Generated structured software programs using ATLAS, assembly, and C
programming languages.
3. • Testing required use of several types of data busses including Mil-Std-1553B,
Arinc 573, Arinc 429, RS232, and RS422.
