Resource Group’s Embedded Systems and Solutions division has over 20 years’
experience of meeting the exacting requirements of high-integrity, safety and mission
critical projects.
Our specialist skills in software development and verification include all aspects of real
time embedded applications covering: low-level BSPs, device drivers, OS / RTOS,
middleware, high-level applications and test environment design and development.
Resource Group’s expertise in high integrity software development, covering all safety
integrity levels, allows us to conform to industry standards including DO-178B/C, DO-278,
EN 50128, IEC 61508, IEC 60601-1-4, ISO 26262-6 and Def Stan 00-56.
Other services provided include bespoke application development, focusing on
engineering support tools and utilities through to full test environments and products.

Firmware
Resource Group’s Embedded Systems and Solutions division has worked closely with
clients to help them address the certification challenges of demonstrating that their
complex PLD / FPGA implementation is functionally correct, robust and intrinsically safe.
Moore’s law observes that every 2 years the complexity of hardware doubles, and this
allows users to add more functionality, often without considering how to realise, verify and
certify the end-product.
The size and complexity of PLD / FPGA implementations now means that they can no
longer be considered as simple systems but fall into the category of complex electronic
hardware. When the verification and certification of these systems has not been carefully
considered up front, then the effort to demonstrate the correct operation, (to standards
such as DO-254, EN 50128, IEC 61508, ISO 26262-5 and Def Stan 00-56), can be very
costly in both terms of duration and man-hours.
