OBJECTIVE
To obtain a Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Management position where my
leadership, training, extensive experience, and problem solving skills can resolve EHS
concerns, improve EHS programs, protect employee health and influence their performance.
SUMMARY
Over twenty five years of Environmental, Health, and Safety experience in Aerospace,
Defense, Manufacturing, and Corporate Environmental Consulting fields. Proven ability to
lead process or site evaluation teams, identify potential liabilities or future regulatory
concerns, and implement a successful plan of action resulting in improved compliance.
Significant experience in regulatory interpretations, policy development, regulatory agency
negotiations, PSM, report/permit preparation, cost analysis, employee training, recycling, and
remedial actions. Seasoned leader that executes long term planning goals, navigates the
political regulatory processes, and provides innovative approaches to difficult problems.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Safety – Was a part of EHS team which established a Management Safety Council resulting in
achieving 1 Million Man hours without a lost time accident 4 times in 19 years and tens of
thousands of dollars in cost savings on Insurance Premiums and workman’s compensation
annually.
Right to Know/EMS - Performed analysis, review, and demonstration process to purchase an
MSDS distribution, Safety Training, and Environmental Management System which saved time,
money and promoted better safety throughout the company.
Cost Savings – Reduced hazardous waste generation by 78% through a combination of
chemical substitution, process changes, and recycling saving the company over $100,000
annually. Re-bid vendors to obtain lower costs while maintaining low, long term liabilities. Also
reduced non-hazardous wastewater generation by 50% based on process changes and regulatory
research. Completed the sale of a 40 year old Plant for a $4 million dollar profit.
Regulatory Actions – Defended company with written arguments to keep an old State
Superfund site from becoming active and impacting company, submitted various position papers
on regulatory rulemakings to reduce regulatory burden on industry, involvement with numerous
audits (State, EPA, DOD, County, City, Customer, & Corporate) with minimal findings. Re-
negotiated 2 Site Assessment Plans under a Consent Judgment which resulted in a $26,000 initial
project cost savings.
Remedial Actions – Planned, Prepared, and Implemented Closure Plan for TSDF using to
reduce regulatory burden and public concerns. Also designed and implemented a 10 year soil &
groundwater remediation plan culminating with a Fluidized Biological Bed Reactor treatment
system, the first in AZ. These actions prevented regulatory enforcement against the company and
saved millions by controlling costs and the timeline of action. Also coordinated the Insurance
recovery action that brought $5.5 million into the company’s clean-up fund.

• Managed EHS Programs on 535 acre local site which includes four AZ manufacturing plants and a
TSDF, plus three out of State manufacturing facilities. Duties included regulatory reporting,
permitting, compliance inspections, regulatory interpretations, policy writing & implementation,
pollution prevention, waste disposal, and recycling.
• Supervised up to 12 EHS and company professionals. Performed all project management
responsibilities to ensure on-time and on-budget completion of projects.
• Performed Industrial Hygiene and PSM functions as it related to worker injuries, illness, training,
and prevention. Duties included exposure monitoring, process evaluations, safety surveys, process
hazard analysis, and right-to-know compliance.
• Collected, interpreted, and analyzed site data in relation to regulatory safety standards to provide
cost analysis for proper decision making.
• Managed multi-million dollar budget with multiple contractors,regulatory agencies, and company
employees.
• Implemented cost reducing measures and cost analysis on process wastes,purchasing methods,
regulatory compliance, and personnel safety issues utilizing Team approaches and employee
participation.
• Key member of a Site Acquisition Team and a Site Closure/For Sale Team.
