3. What is a web-series?
It is a series of scripted and non-scripted episodes, generally
called webisodes , released on internet, and are part of web
television.
Some famous series are : Inside Edge, The
Pitchers (TVF), I Don’t Watch TV, Baked and
many more.
4. History
The SPOT was the first web series created by Scott Zkarin in
1995.
In 2003 Microsoft launched MSN Videos, which featured
the original web series Weird TV 2000. It featured dozens of
comedy sketches and short documentaries produced
exclusively for MSN Videos.
In 2005, YouTube was created, which helped a lot of
video makers to upload their content online for free of
cost.

5. Web 2.0
Web series were popularised due to some major
enhancements in Web Technologies. This is known as Web 2.0,
which refers to Internet websites that emphasize user-generated
content, usability (ease of use, even by non-experts),
and interoperability (this means that a website can work well
with other systems, and devices) for end users.
As Web 2.0 features enable viewers and fans to post
comments online about episodes and link or "tag" favourite
shows, episodes or video clips. These activities help to
build viewers and fan engagement.

The rise in popularity of internet and affordability of high
speed broadband and streaming video technology,
distribution of web series became feasible alternative to
traditional TV shows.
They are less expensive to produce, which allowed a wide
range of creators to develop web series.
Due to its online availability, the users can
watch it 24 hours a day and seven days a week
and Anywhere.
