2. Ecotourism is a form of tourism visiting areas that are natural,
pure, and usually protected, intended to reduce negative
impacts as low as possible for the tourist attractions
themselves and create a positive alternative that is small in
scale for standard commercial tourism.
INTRODUCTION
The aim is to educate tourists, to provide funds for ecological
conservation, to directly benefit the economic and political
development of empowering local communities, or to
encourage respect for different cultures and for human rights.

3. WHAT IS ECOTOURISM?
Nature or Ecotourism can be defined as tourism
that consist in travelling to relatively
undisturbed or uncontaminated natural areas
with the specific objectives of studying,
admiring, and enjoying the scenery and its wild
plantas and animals, as well as any existing
cultural manifestations (both past and present)
found in the areas.

4. Ecotourism is an effort to maximize and simultaneously preserve
the potential of natural and cultural resources to be used as a source
of sustainable income.
Ecotourism seeks to improve local communities' welfare, by:
– boosting their economic and social development,
– creating economic opportunities.
Therefore, it is an activity which promotes employment as well as economic
and social development, acting as an alternative income source for social
sectors living in hard economic situations.

and psychological impacts.
2. Build environmental and cultural
awareness and respect.
3. Provide positive experiences for both
visitors and hosts.
4. Provide direct financial benefits for
conservation.
5. Generate financial benefits for both
local people and private industry.
6. Deliver memorable interpretative
experiences.
7. Design, construct and operate low-
impact facilities.
8. Recognize the rights and spiritual
beliefs of the Indigenous People to
create empowerment.
Principles of Ecotourism

8. UJUNG KULON WORLD HERITAGE SITE
Ujungkulon National Park is
the site of one of Indonesia’s
most pristine and untouched
natural attractions.
Ujungkulon National Park is
located in the southwest of
Java , and is part of the district
of Pandeglang. To the east of
the National Park of Gunung
Honje ridge runs north-south,
which rises up to 620 m. At
the southern end joins a
peninsula to the west.

9. THE KRAKATAU
The Krakatau Island or Krakatoa are
one of the volcanoes are still active
today. But the tourism potential of
Mount Krakatoa store that was quite
interesting.
Visitors ware taken approximately
one hours from the port of Carita
Beach, you will be presented in the
natural wonders located in the
Sunda strait.
Visitors can take the trip which
starts from Carita , then visitors
board the boat (speed boat) to
Krakatau volcano approximately 2
hours, landed and climb up the
volcano than back to the boat to old
Krakatau,Krakatoa island for
snorkeling to see variety of fish at
coral reef.

10. ANYER BEACH
Anyer beach is located in
Serang sub-district has quiet
good scenic, sand dune, and
slope lightly bay. Recently, the
potential are decreased. The
location is around Kampung
Tambang Ayam.
The tourist can go for fishing
in tradition way or staying at
eco-lodge while they can enjoy
the scenic or local culture
attraction.

11. TANJUNG LESUNG BEACH
Tanjung Lesung is having
natural and beautiful panorama.
The stretch of white sand and
coral adorn various forms of
basic waters. The sloping sand
beaches provide space for both
to play in the sand, sunbathing,
playing football and beach
volleyball, and so forth.
Tanjung Lesung is located in the
village of Tanjung Jaya,
Panimbang District,
Pandeglang, Banten.
This beach called Tanjung
Lesung because the location is
jutting into the sea so that its
shape is very similar to the end
of the dimples. As in Sundanese,
the mortar is identical with the
grooves or dimples on the
cheeks, the shape is also in
accordance with the indented
coastline.

12. Tasikardi Lake in Kramatwatu District
The first impression when coming to
Tasikardi Lake is the serenity. It features
natural beauties like shady trees, stunning
water, and much more.
The color of the water is green and it is
surrounded by several trees. On the lake,
visitors can find several duck boats. It is a
no brainer. They are allowed to ride them.
The thing is you need to pay the fee.
The water is deep and unclear, so swimming
isn’t recommended there. Visitors are able
to photography, riding a duck boat, and
relaxation.
Tasikardi Lake is located in Margasana
Village. The lake is noticeable, visitors
can find them easily. The whole trip
takes about 2-3 hours and the distance is
106 km. They can either use a private car
or rent it. Public transportation is not a
bad idea, but it takes longer than a
private vehicle.

13. SAWARNA BEACH
Sawarna beach, that located in
Lebak, Banten province is now
becomes more popular to be visited.
In a decade, this beach that located
along the forest beach in line with
Pelabuhan Ratu, raise as one of
most-visited beach and entitled as a
new pearl in Southern Banten.
Sawarna beach has a quite
interesting charm. Sawarna
presents a gently sloping beaches
and white sandy beach. Along the
coast, there is a lovely large rock,
commonly known as Tanjung Layar.
We can also feel the snorkel to greet
variety of ornamental fish and coral
reef, also find the beauty in Ciantir
Coast, Tanjung Layar beach, Karang
Bokor beach, Karang Seupang
beach, Karang Taraje beach and the
Gulf Legon Pari Coast.

14. Cisolong Hot Spring in Sukamanah Village
The water is definitely warm
and clean. The pond is
surrounded by several tents, so
you can use them for relaxing
and avoid the heat of the sun.
In the back, visitors may find
shady trees. They create a
comfortable ambiance in the
location, after all. Also, they can
see small buildings. They are
bathrooms, canteens, and the
keeper’s place.
Cisolong Hot Spring. It is part of
Banten’s tourist attractions, actually.
The location is in Sukamanah Village,
Pandeglang Regency. Jakarta, the trip
takes approximately 2-3 hours and the
distance is 112 km.

15. Cikoromoy Public Bath
Cikoromoy Public Bath is
located in Kadubungbung
Village. As the name suggests,
it is a perfect location to play
water. Both kids and adults are
able to enjoy it. The locals
manage and retain this tourist
spot well, so everyone is able
to enjoy good times there.
Once the visitors enjoy playing
water, visitors can simply head
to one of those local eateries
and grab some foods. When it
comes to facilities, there is a
parking area that fee is not
expensive. It is as cheap as
entry fee, actually.

16. CONCLUSION
Activities involved in ecotourism are therefore those
activities that while making use of natural resources ensure a
minimal impact on the ecological balance of an area.
Examples of such activities are visiting national parks and
reserves, bird watching, hiking through conservations among
others.
In conclusion, the role of ecotourism is to promote and
preserve natural environment and both large scale and small
scale attractions play an important role in the economy of the
surrounding area. It involves the preservation of natural
areas, environmental education, and cultural tolerance all
geared towards economic growth. It should therefore be
encouraged as it is designed to benefit the tourist, the host
population and the environment.
