Challenges Critical Success Factors (CSFs) Finding common interest among stakeholders as a key driver for the implementation Building up a common understanding (Single Windows Governance) as a working framework for project members and communication to stakeholders Complexity in the port community Striving for a controlled communication (Heterogenity of services provided in the port) Avoiding overflow of information Communication Ensuring that the percieved message is Intepretation of the Directives into best understood correctly possible solution for the ports and their Creating awareness and acceptance of the stakeholders in the whole nation changes causing by this directive (change Coordination of different interest groups within management) the port Explain to the stakeholders and involve Creating a solid roadmap for implementation them!Dr. Phanthian Zuesongdham 5

Conclusion and Outlook Fulfilment of EU Directive requirements to be based on win-win solution for business and public sectors in the port  enabling sustainability of industry growth and partnership. The solution is applicable for all port-sizes and types of organisation within the country. Extended ZMGS as a first phase solution of the system interoperability at the level of the German States. Data interchanges among the public bodies through National Single Windows enhance the efficiency of processes in the port operations. State-of-the-art Technology and innovation must be focussed and concerned in the design phase. Change Management is a crucial CSF for the implementation of Single Windows. Linking EU initiatives like Blue Belt and SafeSeaNet is an important implementation requirement to enable an integrated vision towards e-Maritime.Dr. Phanthian Zuesongdham 6
