In our trailer we will only use a few props but
they will help to convey meanings to the
audience. They will also help to set the scene
in most cases.
To create fake drugs we have used baking powder and
poured some into small clear bags like you see in existing
films and TV shows. This prop will work well as the
audience will link what they know and will realise that it is
meant to be drugs of some description. We will have
multiple bags as well. This prop will be used in the scenes
where all of the gang and Mia are sat under in the
abandoned area in order to set the scene and convey the
genre.
All of the empty beer bottles, fake drugs and
cardboard will be used in the abandoned area to
set the scene and suggest reckless behaviour.
The cardboard is primary for the gang members
to sit on but also adds to the scene as it makes
the area look even more abandoned.
We are using a range of
empty bottles in order to set
the scene and create the
idea of illegal and deviant
behaviour. This also
supports the stereotype that
teenagers are reckless and
drink a lot which therefore
tells the audience more
about the characters through
representations. We will also
put empty beer bottles on
the floor to add to the look of
the abandoned place as this
is where this prop will be
used.
This prop isn’t as significant in terms of
setting the scene but is important twice in
the trailer as it helps to create character
representations and support the narrative.
Mia is first seen scrolling through her phone
whilst sat on her bed which enforces the
idea that teenagers are becoming more and
more obsessed with their phones and
technology. The phone is also need nearer
the end when she declines the call and gets
left behind by the gang.
