The focus intoday’srehearsal wastowork onour characterisationwithinGrease,we performed
variouscharacterisationtaskswhichhelpedustofocuson waysthat wouldhelpusimprove onour
characterisation.
My shortSMART target forthisrehearsal isto understandthe characteristicsof Frenchyandhow to
portray themeffectivelywhenperformingGrease.Iwill alsolearnnew techniquestohelpme
improve oncharacterisationincludingfacial expressionsandphysicality.
The objectfor today’srehearsal wastoexperimentwithnew ways toexplorecharacterisation and
otherexercisesthatwill helptoimprove ourcharacterisation.
Duringtoday’srehearsal we performedtableaux’sfordifferentpeoplewithinGrease forexamplewe
createda group tableaux of the PinkLadiestorepresenthow we believedtheywouldactwe then
comparedthisto variousphotos of the PinkLadiesto see whatwe neededtoimprove on.We
completedthe same activityforthe T-birds,afterthatwe workedindividuallylookingatthe
physicalityof the characterswe all froze ina positionthatwe believedportrayedthe characterwell,
the characters we exploredinthiswaywere Rizzo,SandyandDanny. We thenexploredourown
characters furtherusingourknowledgeof the charactersand the waytheyare presentedtothe
audience. Ialreadyknewthatmycharacter Frenchywasintobeautyand wasa girlygirl,Frenchyis
veryinterestedinwhatthe othersare sayingandgetsexcitedwhenSandytalksabouthersummer.
Duringtoday’srehearsal we alsoworkedonaccent,I initiallystruggledwiththisasmyAmerican
accent neededalotof work.We learntsome techniquestohelpusimprove onouraccent which
included watchingvideosof otherswithanAmericanaccent,thishelpedusaswe understoodhow
we shouldbe performingthe accent. Notonlythatbut we alsolookedatspecificsoundswhichneed
to be focusedonmore whenperforminganAmericanaccent.
My strengthduringthisrehearsal wasportrayingmycharacterFrenchyas an overthe top American
teen,Iwas able toportray Frenchyina friendlyandexcitedmanner. Iwill continueworkingonthis
skill furthertoensure Iam able toportray my character effectivelythroughoutGrease.
The improvementsIneedtomake are to workon my Americanaccentat home to ensure
consistencywhenperforming,Iwill continuetopractice myAmericanaccentwhenperformingmy
linesandalsopractice certainwordsthat I feel more uncomfortable with.
To ensure Icontinue tomake improvementsIwill setmyselfshorttargetsforeachindividual
rehearsal Ihave thisisimportantas it allowsme tofocuson one specificthingthatI feel needsmore
work.FirstlyIwill workonmy Americanaccentfor the firstscene toensure Ican have a fluent
Americanaccentwhile performingthisscene.
