 The West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation (WBTDC) is a
state government agency which promotes tourism in West Bengal,
India.
 It was incorporated on 29th April 1974 under the Companies act 1956.
 The corporation is owned by Government of West Bengal under the
administrative control of Tourism Department and the entire share of
the company is contributed by the State Government .

 WBTDC is a nodal agency of Tourism Department.
 Was incorporated with the objectives to develop and promote
tourism in the state of West Bengal
 For this purpose to take over, run and manage hotels, lodges,
guest house, motels , restaurants etc.
 To popularize tourist destinations in the state and conduct tour
packages to those places

 WBTDC is committed to provide its resource and expertise for both
domestic and international tourists visiting West Bengal and to rise to
their expectation in experiencing the art, culture, heritage and nature of
the state .
 WBTDC manages lodges and hotels in 26 locations across the state of
West Bengal. One of the most well known resort is Morgan House in
Kalimpong.
 Morgan House was built in the typical British architecture of Victorian
rectory .

 While WBTDC has come across a long way in last one decade, it still has long way
to meet the standards set by Tourism Development Corporations of other states.
 Tourists these days, look for facilities like On-line booking for Accommodations,
Tour Packages, Photo Gallery and Flexible Itinerary for Tour Packages
 Cleanliness, Hygiene and Overall maintenance of Tourists Lodges operated by
WBTDC has huge scope for improvement
 Service Quality at the Accommodations e.g. Housekeeping, Room Service, Food
Quality need considerable improvement

WBTDC can promote week-end tourist spots from Kolkata and other
cities like:
 Mayapur
 Shankarpur
 Deulti
 Raichak
 Chakla – Berachampa
 Taki
 Bauli
 Tamluk
 Bandel – Bansberia
They can also work out packages from Kolkata with Transport facilities

WBTDC need to reach to people to promote their packages and
accommodations by:
 Regular Campaign (like – OTDC, Rajasthan Tourism, APTDC,
Kerala Tourism)
 Opening offices in different cities and towns, and other state capitals
 Promoting WBTDC Web Portal through other popular Portals e,g.
MSN, Google, Rediff, IRCTC etc.
