6. The Blue Zone is…
• A moving lane where there is only room for five
cars
• For pick up of students who are already waiting on
the curb that is painted blue
• For students to enter the car from the curb only
• For students who can get into (or out of) the car
quickly from the curb and without help from an
adult
• A pick-up spot if the driver does not have to get
out of the car.
7. The Blue Zone is NOT…
• A place for discussions about after school
plans while a car is waiting in the Blue Zone
• A place where cars should stop for more
than a minute
• A place for cars to park and wait for
students
• A place to rearrange material so lots of
children will fit or load a car with a bike,
cartons…

• For busses to pick up or drop off
students
• Not a place for cars to stop

• The Blue Zone is a great place for making
play dates with my friends while a car is
waiting in the Blue Zone.
• If there are no empty parking spaces in the
Blue Zone, it is ok to walk between two cars
to get picked up.
• It’s ok to be picked up in a car in the bus
zone if there are no busses waiting there.
• You should stand on the blue painted curb

the car on the sidewalk side, it’s ok to go
around carefully to the other side of the
car to get in.
• Before I get into the car, it’s fine to open
the trunk and put my backpack and jacket
there.
• If I am being picked up in the Blue Zone, I
should wait at the blue curb for my ride.
